Heavy EDF (electric ducted fan) jets like the Freewing F-14 twin 80mm land the same as turbines. Land with power until touchdown

I'm making an RC airplane using balsa wood for belly landing. I'm using a motor and lipo battery .My main goal is for the aircraft to lift a greater payload capacity and achieve a smoother flight. I was thinking of making a circular cruciform tail for this purpose, but I'm not finding much information about it. Do you think it would be beneficial for this? If not which will be better except for the conventional tail.
