RC 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 1/24 Scale Project Full Build + Test Drive
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Full RC model conversion build featuring one of the most powerful and iconic muscle cars of the 60s/70s, a 1970 Chevelle SS. The Revell 3in1 kit used for this project contained a great looking body and plenty of extra parts, while the Make It RC FFR SC1 chassis provided a great base. With a goal to build a simple car that balances scale realism with high performance, the result turned out great and I’m very excited to have the opportunity to share the build process with the community. This video will cover every step of the build from unboxing to the first test drive. Whether you’re a builder looking for inspiration or just a casual viewer, I hope you all enjoy watching as much as enjoyed making this video!

Had a lot of fun both building this car and editing this video. After the hours spent working on it and 4 attempts to upload it, it's great to finally be able to share it. 👍

Any plans for building a monster truck out of say the base of one of those hotwheels 1:24th scale metal models or the amt usa 1 & a cheap rc crawler with a longer gear ratio or faster mini-z motor like a pn racing 43t ?

Just an idea. If you want more traction for on hard surfaces you could print the tires undersized and dip them in plasti dip tool handle coating. One or two layers are relatively thin but will provide a good bit of grip.

Looks awesome
cool vid! A tip for repairing missing chunks on thin bits is to dissolve shaved off bits of sprue in some glue and blob it onto the area, when it cures it has the same properties as the rest of the plastic and can be sanded and carved down to a very thin edge.
really like that you took the time to tell people where different sections start! That was great! UltimateScaleTruckExpo would LOVE to see some of your work!

Very cool build. Thanks for sharing
Man this is amazing. Great work!
Right on bud. Your best 1/24 build yet.
Love how it turned out
This was a nice build. Thanks for showing it in this format. With a complete start to finish. It was cool seeing it all. I admit I always got frustrated. When you jumped around to different builds. Keep up the great work. This was a slick build .
Came out great! It looks like it handles a treat too 👍
American cars are cool 😀
Wow awesome, greate...
Your work is beautiful--it's art. It's a kid's dream come true. I wish I had the small hands, time, and patience to build one my self. Thanks for such a great video. JP

This build is just okay, lol! I'm kidding this was amazing, and I like the color scheme. Thumbs up from me!
Amazing work ! Im really inspired im thinking front wheel drive build or an all wheel drive like mitsubishi evo
Nice job, great project 👍👍👍
Damn you do some amazing work
Love your builds! Love to see you build a slot drag car, maybe gasser style!!!
This is epic, dude you have amazing skills and I would love to make one but of a dodge dart or caprice classic.
subd on this alone dude, have one in my lof that I made years ago in red and black, Dremel is coming out and the Chevy is going into the workshop..... this is what youtube is for imo...
Awesome ur vids get better and better 👍
It was very good ... suggestion that such an upcoming project be a Mustang Gt 500 Eleanor will stay show
Looks great.... hey little tip next time you have a tiny spot to fill a gap (like the mirror..) use Superglue and Backing Soda that works just great...

Thanks for the tip. I'll try that out sometime.
Great video ! Great build !! Thanks for sharing :) ....don’t forget to paint the inside of the tailpipes with a little flat black ;)
To avoid paint bleed under masking, spray clear round the masking edge. This will fill any gaps with invisible clear. Then spray with your desired colour and voila, no bleed!

Not sure what tape you use, but ditch the crap stuff or tapes that are used for cars etc. Go with Tamiya tape. It’s not cheap, but it’s just the best at doing this sort of thing. Usually little or no bleed.
new fan, you are the toms turbo garage of 1/24 great detail.
skills
Great build with a pray can though you should back the can up about 3 feet
Magnifique
The rims. Nice.
Wow. Just wow. Amazing job on the build. Now if you can do a 63 VW Karmann Ghia
now add some LED's to the headlights for some neat effects!

Its True!
When spraying two tone paintjobs, you can spray the colour under the masking over the masking tape. That'll prevent the next layer of paint from going under the tape by sealing the edge. So for this you could have sprayed some clear coat on the masking, then sprayed the black over it when it was dry. Nice video. :-)
I would like to see you do one of my favorite cars. A 68 Mercury Cougar.
Ever tried making an 1/18 Bburago metal car RC? Would require more powerful electronics - but could also deliver a very satisfying scale ride with all that weight, if fitted with the right suspension!
Awesome build, the color scheme though reminds me of a Buick stage 1.. I want to build one now

Sorry about this delayed comment but it would have been really awesome if you would had used decaled strips instead of doing the front good black.. btw this is my favourite machine I've ever layed my eyes upon ❤️
It's such a beautiful car! Such a shame it's so underpowered!
OMG Make lt RC this chevelle is amazing built a real top notch work with great amount details, lots tips and tricks, very clean presentation that shows how to do it are what make your channel so grateful for us fans to really enjoy watching and wanting more form you in the future. P.S. B.T.W thanks for loving my comment.
Sweet! Probably handles better than a real Chevelle ;)
Like way you setup video first time seem that
that looks great man, if I may sugest something look into the speed of your stearing servo. right now it looks really nice and scale but the way the car snaps while driving is something a lot of RC cars have. by slowing down the servo you have a smooth transission wich might drive diverant but will look way more scale! but again love the way it looks

Great idea! Been messing with the steering settings a little. One thing I did during the tests was reduce the steering angle since before it was turning a little too sharp, as could be seen in some clips. May slow down the speed a little as well.

I love to have one
Love your color choices & model of the build, what really hit me tho was the performance. I don't know if it was from deleating interior & engine bay detail, but that car seems almost perfectly balanced. Like you can just change rubber on the rim to have it perform any way you want, once again just amazed that you only get better at these 1/24 builds..

Little tip if you don't mind. Try using scotch tape on the trim it won't bleed underneath. Scotch tape was originally designed for pin striping. If you want.👍 But overall very nice build.
Rad! Because "Chevelles Rule".
Looks epic! That thing looks like it could rip the streets and make the Fords cry lol. The only thing I would have done differently is not so dark tint and used something other than yellow. Its not my color and that's not my car so I have no room to talk haha.
You just heard my Request, Damn that car is sexy.
screw studying, I'm watching this
Your firebird is my favorite car I ready like it I like to try to make one my self one of this days just ready do not no how but I have to start looking on to it
Looks nice great build will there be a super charger
Yellow paint needs a White basecoat. Then it Covers properly.
Good work, quit filling factory body lines like the headlight buckets and the hood flap was a factory intake option, a functional version would be interesting
Hey Make it RC,have you considered converting a 1:25 scale Kenworth,Peterbilt,Freightliner, International, and Mack big rigs from Italeri,Revell Germany,Revell U.S.A,Mobius,and AMT/MPC?.A video of a 1:25 scale big rig will be cool to watch!.

That would be cool. A truck build would make for a great project. Maybe something that can haul some 1/25 scale cars.
My dad had a 1970 black chevelle
Would you be able to design wheels that would work with the model kits tires? That way you can have rubber compound tires.
Are you going to have more complete chassis available on your website soon? I really want to make diecast rc cars.
I wish that people could put the engine/battery of the RC car under the hood like in a real car.
Want want want..
What do you do with them when you've finished with them. If you keep them I'd love to see all of them that you've done. Love your vids you're very patient and talented
Wow, awesome work, where did you get the prop shaft, rear axle internals and front steering metal parts from, i'd like to build a similar car. Thanks
Chevelle SS can be made like drive angry car red strips it looks way cool....thin coats of paint give much more perfection if body is prepared well....drive angry Chevelle red in black stripes ....
Lovely looking car. I think I’m the only person who cannot stand the pre-chromed parts or the stuff from those chrome pens. It’s a bit like overly shiny paint-jobs or windows. They just don’t look scale to me and make the models look like toys. Your paintwork look pretty spot on.
@MakeItRC
5 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I'm curious what techniques you prefer to use for chrome. I've got some new paints that I'm excited to try out, but I'd be interested to know of any products or techniques you recommend for chrome.
@alanmorris8783
5 жыл бұрын
Mostly Alcoa’s paint, their black primer, chrome silver and special clear coat. I’ve also used buff-off metalizer paints and occasionally powders. All have pros and cons, so best to play with them first.
I'm curious why you aren't using MEK and styrene slurry for bonding and filling your models. I think it would help with the crumbling you experienced on the side mirror as it's a chemical bond and as strong as the rest of the styrene.
hey i love the vids, I'm currently making a drivetrain and diff for my custom rc car although i was wondering what ratios you use for the drivetrain and is the differential 1:1? thanks
You need to build an 1967 Mustang fast back
As always, great work. What ratio motor are you using? I seem to always get burned by Uxcell's RPM system. I think I remember the "higher rpm" motors being the slowest. Any suggestions?
I have from Walmart that I panted all yellow now I'm changing it to look like this one
Dang same chevelle i have
Foose edition 67 Dodge Charger, I got one for Christmas but yet to put it together
Man, I love your work!!, I need help building a 1:15 scale DeLorean Back to the Future car with 1:16 remote control car cuz it's certain way I want the tires to sit but I really need help
Again one of your fantastic builds. Really like the wheels. BTW what is shoegoo?
@MakeItRC

Thank you. Shoe Goo is a brand name adhesive for shoe repair (though is very useful for other things as well). Apparently it is not sold in some countries outside of North America but apparently some equivalent adhesives can be found else ware, or of course I'm sure you can order it online.

@@MakeItRC Thank you very much.
are there still plans to get an actual differential into these axles? And maybe make larger ones to fit the 1/24 semi truck kits on the market?
@MakeItRC
5 жыл бұрын
Functioning differentials have been built but are not reliable to the point of something we'd want to sell yet. Still have some bugs to work out. Larger semi truck axle would be cool. No plans for that at this time but maybe someday.
The car looks amazing, but I have one question: how does the plastic parts fare against the heat produced by the motor?
@MakeItRC
5 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I've never had issues with the little N20 motors, though the larger motors can produce a lot of heat. With the bigger motors I monitor the heat and ensure the plastic is holding up both on the chassis and the car's hood.
Other than the car model kit, are the rest of the parts available?
