I hope so! I know that the United States will not be the dominant power in the world for much longer, and as an American I want a fellow democracy to follow us as the top global influence rather than China. Key to that will be the strengthening of the Rupee, and getting countries to trade in it.

@@johndicosta7993 All great points! My point is that India just took a clear independent stand geopolitically about where it wants to go. For months, the UK, US and EU tried to court it into a clear Western-link and keep it in the dollar-system. This is a massive step away, and also the one I expected. This sets up the path to the BRICS forming a monetary system outside the Western-ruled one. Also, India is likely, like China, hoping to pay for oil and gas in rupees instead of dollars to the GCC, which could encourage the end of the petrodollar.

US hedge funds will be instructed to destroy the rupee unless India institute some form of capital controls to limit their speculation. Other large developing countries should also internationalize their currencies simultaneously to nullify the effects of US illegal and long arm sanctions. But I doubt China would seriously dedollarize as they love the toilet-roll dollars too much and unwillingly to sustain short term losses for long term gains and stability.
