If anything the rb30 was first used in the r31 skyline, Holden bought rights to use the rb30 for the vl due to the 202 failing emissions tests Though in the case of the video the vl was the only one manufactured with a turbo and non turbo set up

I know the American people are going to love me, but sorry - I forgot to include the imperial units. However it is not a deal breaker that they are not in the tech spec charts. If you are very much willing to know them, you can use various online units converters. Besides that, I hope you enjoy the video.

Cool video, but there are some small corrections: RB30 never came turbo in a Nissan, but did come turbocharged in a different car made by GM Holden, the VL Commodore. The R31 Nissan skyline in Australia only came as a non-turbo RB30E single cam. As for the RB20, there are several variants, NICS (early) then ECCS (late) even the very early RB20E, RB20ET Single cam engines, and then the RB20DE, RB20DET Twincam engines (red cam covers AKA Redtop), that came in the JDM HR31 Skyline and other models. Then from the R32 Skyline, the RB20DET was revised and came with silver cam covers (silvertop) as shown in your video. I loved your video! Cheers!

I'm glad we can now import the R32's into the U.S legally. I, unlike a lot of these damn kids would just buy one and appreciate it for how and what it is. The GTR R32's are fairly high dollar but I've looked into the GTS-4 series, which is the detuned GTR with a RB20DET but is AWD and cheaper by about 4k-5k. I'm assuming the RB26DETT, would be a fairly straight forward bolt/drop in affair.

  • @Incurafy

You're usually better of just buying an R32 GTR, but if it's really going to be $5k cheaper AFTER the swap, then yes. An RB26DETT from an R32 GTR will swap straight into an R32 GTS-4.

Great video dude. Just don't agree with your assessment on the RB25. When I live in Okinawa in the early 2000s every RB25 owner I knew said it was almost the perfect engine. Couldn't get the power output of the RB26 but you could do anything to it and it would keep running forever. Never knew anyone that complained about weak piston rings. Again just my opinion. For my 94 Z32 300zx slick-top I'm thinking of converting from the VG30 to the RB26, maybe. But I still love the VG30 and I have time to really think about it.

+VisioRacer if you want more information about about the RB26 and 30 or 13b and 20b I'm available for questions. I currently own both. I own both a 1997 Nissan Skyline GTR w/RB30 and a 1993 Mazda FD3S w/20b. Both cars I've modified myself. Both cars I got and they were stock. Currently my RX7 has 921 hp 710 tq. My Skyline will be going to the dyno in the next couple of months for tuning, I just put a Borg Warner EFR 9174 in the skyline.

  • @1truzilla458

+VisioRacer oh yeah as different as night and day. The one extra rotor changes everything from Hp & Tq, to sound and drivability. The 20b is a better motor, many people will disagree but how many of them have had the opportunity to drive both and feel the differences between the two. I've had my RX7 for 10 years now.

It's not the block but rather the crank nose where it drives the oil pump. An aftermarket crank collar is an easy fix. Late model r32's and onward have "long nose" cranks with wider gear drives.

RB20 uses high impedance injectors, RB26 uses low impedance with their resistor pack, RB30 also came in R31 Skylines in Australia and NZ but that was already said. Just the thing is that VL Commodore RB blocks are much cheaper than R31 Skyline blocks but with VL Blocks there are two different RB's, one that's a difect bolt on if you want to say so and one that needs some work to run with turbos. i was running a RB20 before i got my HNR32 with RB26 and as fuel consumption goes, RB20 is much much better.

Noticed a few pieces of wrong information, first of all the RB30 was manufactured by Nissan and put into the R30-R31 skylines, then the engine was sold to the Australian auto manufacturer Holden and put in the VL Commodore, second and lastly of what I noticed the RB30 never came factory with dual over head cams, I believe it didnt come with a turbo either whoever that could be wrong, commonly people put the RB25/RB26 head on to achieve the dual overhead cam with the other advantages aswell, love your videos man keep it up
