98 mph from a starter is just not fair. I played college baseball in the early 2000’s and I couldn’t imagine facing that kind of Velo

It’s insane to me how much trouble pitchers have to simply throw the ball to first

Luis Gil looked good today, but he’s got to work on limiting Walks and Balks! Everything else went pretty well, he’s looking like a solid rotation arm!

True, but he has also missed a ton of pitches right over the middle of the plate. And I'm getting tired of hearing how he didn't get enough AB's in spring training, has played nearly every day for about a month. Time to wake up and start helping Juan with driving in runners, same with Torres, Rizzo, Wells, Volpe, etc.

As a proud Mets fan and former professional player, that Balk call was phenomenal... I used to play C Position and technically had he released the Ball on the throw, it would have been a fair play! However how his back leg went behind the rubber and he did not throw simultaneously the rule is simple.. You can't do that man!!! Rookie move but Terrific game with more potential for growth and development. Great Job Gil!!!

Balks are the hardest thing to determine in my opinion, watched the game for 30 plus years but still don't understand every nuance of the ruling?

It's a simple call. You can't fake a pickoff with men on base, that's an immediate balk.

@@somerandomguy5977you can’t fake the throw to 2nd and 3rd I believe. If a runner is on 3rd and only 3rd and u step off, you have to throw over or it’s a balk. Balk rules are confusing if you didn’t pitch when playing baseball.

if you wanna do a fake pickoff, you have to step off the plate first, a lot of ppl got confused cuz it actually a revised hs rule about 10 yrs ago(it used to be legal)

I have a bad feeling that soon we’re going to hear judge is going on the IL dealing with some kind of injury.

I’m 43 going on 50 and in yesteryears the pinstripes were very conservative. I’ve watched them since the days of WPIX11 back in ‘88 and I don’t recall a single player then, during the 90s show their tattoos. If they did, they were made sure to cover it up. Don’t get me wrong I have a sleeve myself but it looks unprofessional to see professional athletes with tattoos to their necks. The first thing I think of is perp. Just my opinion.

They rank near the top of the MLB in total fielding errors, for instance. Their catchers can’t throw out runners and their bullpen induces soft contact instead of strikeouts… a self reinforcing set of problems.
