Former lead singer of Genesis, Ray Wilson, who lasted for one album before Mike and Tony decided to ditch him, here singing the song that Peter Gabriel wrote about deciding to ditch Genesis. And he NAILS it. The irony alone is worth a view.

This just show us that Ray Wilson always has been a great singer.

Just shows the humility of this guy and how much he is a big fan and has respect for all the members of Genesis, even in their solo careers.

The Genesis album they did was a bit pants but when he performs Genesis with his band he’s great. And I’m with you I love his voice, I do like Phil Collins but Ray’s got so much more power and soul

Ray did a very good job for Genesis and he s still doing it.

Ray Wilson's time with Genesis was a very underrated period as i believe Tony and Mike were waiting for Peter Gabriel to return after Phil Collins' 1995 departure before ultimately settling with Wilson. It's a shame that "Calling all Stations" was critically slaughtered by Collins and Gabriel fans because they just didn't like change.

One more album and I think the tide would have turned. For that I'll bet he has been "Constantly Reminded", though sadly he had little say in the matter.

ray wilson and trey gunn are two painfully underrated musicians from two great bands

Love this, Ray's total respect for the members of Genesis & their work is truly amazing.

You know what, I’ve never liked Calling All Stations apart from a couple of tracks and I probably never will but goddamnit does Ray have a nice voice and a great band, he performs both his solo stuff and old Genesis stuff to a small but passionate audience who are there for him and he has great fun doing it, and God bless him for that.

Check out his live performance of Calling All Stations. His band knows how to play with him, I think the approach to the album was too rushed. They threw it together without giving themselves time to come together as a band. I think that’s what’s missing on the album that is very present during his live shows.

Great cover. As good as Peter Gabriel live. How Genesis let him go is bizarre. In fact his covers with Ali Ferguson on Lead guitar sound better to me than the Genesis originals and l have loved Genesis since the 80's. Ali is a guitar god!!!!!

Think the problem was that the guys in Genesis could not adjust to the change in music industry, and playing before much smaller crowds compared to their heyday years. Like you, very impressed with Ray.

What key are they playing this in.

@@johnreeves6286 Yeah, you are probably right. A lot like here in the USA. Depending on what state you are in, the accent is totally different! But many people outside the USA might not recognize the subtle differences.

amazing sound but the mix was a little off - he was a little overpowered by the band

Good version but a bit too weak bass. Tony Levin’s bass is defining for this song.

Bass played on the Chapman Stick! A unique tone that just isn't quite the same on a bass guitar.
