Unlike many artists in their old age, Ray's voice never changed much. True classic. Faron left too early. Glad I grew up with the classics thanks to my Mom and Dad... These two, Mel Tilis, Kitty Wells, Tammy, Lorretta, Vern, Marty, Charley, Charlie Rich, Johnny Rodriguez, Hank Snow, Conway Twitty, and many others.

When I was a teenager, I was more into the 90's country at the time (still am), and I would turn the channel (from TNN) when these guys would come on. Now in my 40's, I really wished I had stopped to pay attention to the music that my grandparents and my parents so loved to watch on that show Bill Anderson hosted. These days, I listen mostly to the classics that my dad and grandparents listened to- REAL country music.

joyce gilbert No, but I plan on contacting his son. I have some memorabilia I think we would like to see. My mother knew them both and got to hang around them in the early and mid-1970s.

joyce gilbert No, we would see them (Faron & Ray) on tour and get to hang out back stage and on the bus. Faron visited us at our house (1972) once and another time we went to Faron's house when we were visiting Nashville (1973 or 1974). My dad was in the Air Force and we lived in Maryland during that time frame.
