Ray Manzarek - Riders on the Storm (Isolated Mix)

Everyone deserves to hear this.
There is some bleed-over, but this is from the LA Woman album, which was recorded with live takes, so that's just the way it is.

No, all of the Members made up The Doors. Not just Jim Morrison or Ray, but also Robbie and John, each member added something which made the band what it still is to this day, and what it will remain as long as there is music.

At first their managers at the recording studio didn't think this song had what it took. Their comments were that this was simply "Cocktail Music" that it didn't have what it took. But little did they know that this song would take everyone into different dimensions. Ray Manzarek was very creative in putting the keyboard music together. It was also a creative masterpiece by the "Doors".

I always found the Doors to be very hypnotizing. Don't get me wrong, I love the contributions of every member (Jim's daunting yet seductive voice, John's perfect beat and catchy rhythm, Robby's fantastic flamenco among other great styles)! But, I could listen to Ray's solos for hours. All elements (Drums, Voice, Guitar, Organ/Piano) put together meshed so perfectly, but the Doors would not have had enough magic to ride on without Ray. At least, that's how I feel. Shame about their disputes, too.

There wouldn't have been a rock band called the doors if there hadn't been a man named Ray Manzarek. The doors was his brain child. It took his vision & organization skills Plus Morrison's poetry & persona to come up with all the rest that made the doors legendary.

I have been a fan of The Doors from ever since their first album came out. "Riders on the Storm" happens to be my favorite piece by The Doors. I have listened to several versions of this song and I find that this version with Ray isolated on the keyboards to be the best. I should mention that back in the 60 while I was still in high school when "Riders..." came out I had a high frequency hearing lost with both ears so I did not realize there were alot of very high notes. Eventually I lost all of my hearing in both ears. Now I have bi-lateral cochlear implants. A few months ago the two external processors were upgraded for the forth time and with each upgrade the sound quality has gotten better. My current processors are bluetooth compatable and I have an audio transmitter that I can plug into a headphone jack. Needless to say the sound quality of this version is unbelievable as I can hear the crisp sounds of all of the lows to the highest highs.

Ray Manzarek will always be the greatest keyboard player of all time. He certainly was a wiz on those keyboards. He solved the problem when there wasn't bass player in the group. He did it by using a smaller keyboard that played only bass notes. But he also had his Vox organ. Ray Manzarek was also a great piano player. The man will always live on as a legend. The music of The Doors will always live on.
