I went to jr high and high school with Ray, got to see his very early stuff LOL he was AMAZING then... you knew he was destined for greatness!!!!

Yes, he added boredom, unnecessary fills, lack of knowledge about the band's proper music language/sound and flashy tricks with the drum sticks, to impress the ladies and/or easily impressionable dudes. Korn music, didn't need any of these things. Ah, and he also talked shit in public (without having any real beef), about the person that was doing the job that he got , before him. You know, the person that was a massive responsable for Korn success, and responsable for creating and playing drums in Korn's best albuns to date. So why the hell David would wanted to hold Ray's drum sticks, when his work (the music that he created, that is the most important thing) with Korn speaks for itself?

I started enjoying Korn music since they emerged 24 years ago and never even noticed they changed drummers. I just dig the songs. I don't real CD liners. I don't read articles or interviews or press releases about the Korn band. I noticed his skills when he did the KXM project. He's a fucking animal. His timing is incredible.

I am guitarist...but this man is a inspiration for any kind of musician

It's beyond me why some continue to hate on Ray. The guy is at the top of the game and is a great fit for Korn. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that Korn is quite lucky to have him...not the other way around. For you die-hard Silveria fans who think he invented drumming? Educate yourself about life "behind the kit". Would you rather Korn split up after David left? Come on...we're aren't talking about Zepplin and Bonham here.

Honestly I love Ray Luzier, he's a cool, down to earth guy and amazing drummer. Definitely in my top three right next to Niel Pert and Joey Jordison.

I used to love Korn, their latest stuff not so much.. I think this guy really caught the "way" Korn sounded like and put some life again in those old songs. Plus, not only does his drumming sound good, it also looks good, this guy's a beast!

Nothing wrong with david silveria, but honestly Ray is literally 1000x better than david. He's more technical, more musically intelligent, more creative, and wayyyyy more entertaining behind the kit.

Nothing wrong at all! But David was"just"the man behind the kit who came with the awesome drum beats on their most famous and probably better albums and a massive part of the band unique sound when they started. If they are a"big act"today they own it a big part to Silveria unique aproach on drums. Ray is way more complete drummer than David for sure, but in music (in art) that dosen't mean that the final result will be better.

So funny, you go to a David video everyone's like "hail David, fuck Ray," you go to a Ray video everyone's like "hail Ray, fuck David." I think David was super important to the Korn sound and they haven't been the same since he left with his creativity and grove! I don't really mean "fuck Ray," he is obviously a talented drummer but less interesting... if Korn ever has a chance of re-igniting the original spark it won't be with him.

He was an influence to "thousands" of other drummers. His style, sound and unique approach, were something fresh and "groundbreaking back in days. His creativity, drum beats, power and groove were unmatched. Something that you or anyone will never say about Ray's drumming. This isn't about popularity. The music he did with Korn, was the best and more interesting music the band ever made! And that is also why the majority of songs on every setlist when they play live consists of "old songs" (David songs), although at this point Ray has more years of Korn than David and almost the same amount of albuns. Facts. "Ray is a better drummer". Maybe, still that is also "completely irrelevant". Dosen't mean shit. This isn't about "how many techniques do "you" know. Music isn't about that, and better, Korn music sure isn't about that. Ray got no style or language use, that he can call his own, his drumming is blant, his drumming choices don't fit on Korn music (especially on old songs) and the fact that he was from a diferent music world just proves what I said. Is so much better than David, like you're saying, yet he's been copying David's style and approach for years.

Ray opens Korn right up to new stuff, giving different layers to things Korn would never have done before. He also gives some life to a live gig! It's called personality!!

I got nothing against Ray and i'm old school as i know Korn since 1994.. He seems a great person and his drums skills are just amazing,that's for sure. Now,you calling David 2 dimensional,and i say he was probably the best musician in Korn back then. A big big part in their unique sound when they came. His"frame"of drumming is smaller than Ray but was perfect to Korn's sound. Those choices in druminmg separate Korn from many others band. Korn was never about technical stuff and big fills,it was about the groove. And the groove that David provides to the band was unique. Besides all that,their best albuns are with David on drums.

Seen Korn live in December. move hiw this guy always throws his sticks in the air like he just doesn't mind.

+badcrowJC I own all of their albums, and trust me I don't think that the fills are unnecessary. But I do think Ray is more technically advanced. Listen to David when he does the double bass on one; he's not quite on beat.

This dude is way too good for Korn, but then again if I got offered the job I`d take it too lol, and I find he has made the whole band alot better with their riff writing skills jamming with this guy. I also totally dig his attack on all these 300bpm kick and tom roll (one trick pony) drummers nowadays with NO groove and soul, I hear ya!. I give this video a thumbs up.

He's so refreshing, I've been discovering metal drumming recently through youtube, and it's 99% blast beat, weird 300bpm double foot (with creepy ankle movements) and all muscle. No dynamics, groove, inventiveness. Finding the new Korn drummer has literally stopped me from just declaring that modern metal drumming stinks, and going back to what I play.

I get your point,but not everyone wants to play with Britney or are in the music for making money. Some types of music need to be 300bpm all the way and the groove is just in that,is just part of the expression and what the music needs. But like everything,there's good blastbeaters and not so good blastbeaters. And yes, Ray is way to good for Korn.
