@Ryan Akwar thats right. clint is a great actor, but he certainly isnt de niro or brando. many of his characters he portrayed are legendary, but not necessarilly his acting. during the 80s and 90s, clint received only one acting nomination. the rest of his nominations are almost all about directing, except the best actor in a million dollar baby. thats as far as his acting goes. ray has numerous acting awards and nominations including a golden globe and an emmy; but weirly enough he didnt get any nomination for goodfellas. i would say they are equally good actors.

Actually, taken in the context of the question ("back in the 80's and 90's"), his answer is only partially true; Starting in the 90's, Eastwood took on roles that were less caricature and he exceeded expectations: His performances in "White Hunter Black Heart," "The Unforgiven" (of course), "In the Line of Fire" (with John Malkovich), "A Perfect World" (with Kevin Costner), "The Bridges of Madison County" (with Meryl Streep) stand out. Moreover, I realize that Ray Liotta was placed on the spot, but I guess some of the biggest box office draws of the 1980s were comedic and action stars that already had low ratings as actors (Stallone, Schwartznegger, Murphy, Guttenberg).

@@joandonnelly9187 Ray is an incredible overrated actor, which acted in a one iconic movie, maybe 2 or 3 good more, his presence is "not one of a kind" and a pretty one dimensional... And acting is always about presence and likability of a face and a figure, like about 80-90% actors (more or less) are same in every other role...only how they "acted" differently is because of costimography, makeup and styling, and in some rare case is about gaining or losing weight, or wow (learning new dialect)....and from that perspective that's not acting, that's a just magic of a production team... because every man or woman has same emotions and "face bones", and what you saw in a 2, 3 movie by a one actor, you saw in every other movie from them... it's almost always just about a personality and a screen presence, and just a little bit about commitment and a character they played...ofcourse every actor has their own style and will for a commitment (and every job demands some commitment, even in a some basic romantic or a action film), but it's actually always in a hand ("mind") of a script, director and production, they running the world.
