Some economists have projected that both the U.S. and parts of Europe could slip into a recession for a portion of 2023. A global recession, defined as a contraction in annual global per capita income, is more rare because China and emerging markets often grow faster than more developed economies. Essentially the world economy is considered to be in recession if economic growth falls behind population growth.

Weakness is most visible now that US struggles internally with cultural aspects, but if everyone else has to do same battle, it's not as strong a whole.

It seems like he is trying to answer the question (Is China a good investment?) by listing the most important problems and risks in China, which he does. He says 25% of the economy is real estate, and the majority of savings (the number is 70% btw which is nuts) is in real estate, that's a huge issue, he talks about the debt crisis and how deep rooted it is, it's insane. He mentions the authoritarian crackdowns on the tech industry (but doesn't mention the larger scale crackdowns on many other industries), he mentions covid (and again this is huge, China is fucked they can't open up because their vaccines are not effective against these newer strains and they have almost no natural immunity in the population because of draconian hardcore lock downs last and this year.) He mentions the demographic problem (which will decimate China worse than any other country. He actually does answer the question well, the answer is ; Listen here are these immense, insurmountable problems, four or five of them, what do you think is China a good investment? Of course it's not. But I have invested billions in it, (and so has Blackrock, the largest investment entity in the world, their advice was to TRIPLE DOWN on China) and so I can't tell people the truth or else I lose, in fact the whole western world will lose trillions if people realize how fucked China is in the long term.

In broad terms a stock portfolio that begins when central banks pivot to lowering interest rates will generally see better returns in the intermediate term than a portfolio that begins when central banks are starting to raise interest rates. Rising interest rates reduces spending in the economy which reduces consumption which reduces the profits of companies. The effect is intensified on companies that are seeking financing or who’s business model relies on low interest environments because it will be harder to get investment and more expensive to get a loan which hampers growth and can lead to businesses faltering. edit: long term i.e. 10+ years it should not really matter much and if you are following a broad market DCA strategy then I see no reason to stop investing unless you will need the cash in less than 10 years time.

I've said for years that basing inflation numbers on durable goods was idiotic. My kids can't eat a toaster, go see how much milk has gone up. Luckily corporate America bases their increases on the CPI number, so the CEOs are doing okay.. Comes down to the question, where else should I put money besides the financial market?

Having an investment adviser is the best way to go about the market right now, especially for near retirees, I've been in touch with a coach for awhile now mostly cause I lack the depth knowledge and mental fortitude to deal with these recurring market conditions, I nettd over $220K during this dip, that made it clear there's more to the market that we average joes don't know.

THE FOMC IS OVER - Still no change on the market. We are already in the big crash, Inflation is a catastrophe. This CPI report is a colossal failure. To bring the Stock/Crypto market to a halt, the FED will have to pull all the stops. The unfortunate issue is that other markets are being decimated. If you want to stay green, you have to rely on a lot of diversification. Currently up 14% and being careful. Still a better deal than leaving it in a savings or checking account yielding 0-1 percent interest.
