Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo went from "brothers" to beef

Спорт

Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo started as close friends. When Allen got traded to the Celtics, he became a mentor for the young Rondo, and that relationship was one of many elements that made that Boston team a champion in 2008.
But Ray Allen cares very much about controlling his own fate, and as Rondo's somewhat difficult personality emerged, so did some rumors of trades that involved not just him, but his friend Ray. That thorny connection caused a close friendship to devolve, sometimes with explosive results.
But what really turned this "brotherhood" into beef was Ray's departure in 2012 for the Miami Heat, the team that had twice prevented Boston from winning another title. Allen's "betrayal" alienated from all of his former teammates, a development that came back under scrutiny as the '08 Celtics started to get honors and commemorative ceremonies in recent years, then again when Allen released his autobiography.
This is a story about how any bond -- even one gilded with championship gold -- can be broken.

Shawn Denmark also that the heat was considered their eastern conference rivals that formed specifically because the big 3 of that team were all individuals who couldn’t beat the Celtics before. Rondo playing with Lebron seemed more like rondo was brought as a veteran to mentor Lonzo who is now traded.

Sterling Murray he was a bit cocky, but if you wanna be great you have to have that attitude. Lebron calls himself the best in the NBA even when he gets destroyed on defense. And Celtics and Miami were rivals, that’s why KG gave him the cold shoulder that time, because he went to the rival team. I believe he stated that reason when they had the reunion. Ray leaving was good for his career cause he saw another championship cause of it and his role in Boston was unstable, you don’t think the people in Boston would be mad at that move that not only did he go to the only team in the east beating them, but the team that had the best ring chances in the east with 3 superstars on it. This is the same reason fans hated KD, only difference, Allen already had a ring and was not a superstar unlike KD

Him going to the heats ultimately brought another ring (btw he was clutch) but at the same time, he lost respect from his ex teammates and I dont think ray thought this thru. I do not blame Ainge, his job is to compete and he successfully accomplished that job and he simply had to prepare for the future as well. Without Ainge, Cs big 3 or 4 wouldve never won a ring.

@@jjcs9238 Was Allen joining the Heat a poor decision? At the time absolutely. But it wasn't the same as KD. The thunder traded for Victor Oladipo with the *SOUL PURPOSE* of taking the scoring weight off KD and Westbrook. The Thunder tried desperately to hold onto a player who *NEVER* brought them a championship. Whereas Danny Ainge used a Cornerstone of there '08 championship team as trade bait up until he became a free agent then signed a seasoned gunner (Jason Terry) just like Ray Allen. Management made it seem like Allen didn't have a role on the team. And while the Heat gave him less money, it was out of necessity, he also had a role on the Heat (case in point game 6 2013). In the same way he helped the heat, he helped the celtics. What's not fair is how they give Ray Allen the Benoit treatment.

looking at it from both sides i'm going to have to say Rondo's head got a little too big too fast and it rubbed Allen the wrong way. then once Rondo found out he could control how many touches Allen get's a game, Allen felt like he had to leave because he didn't want to have to walk on egg shells and not say what he wanted to around Rondo in fear of not getting the ball enough during the game. even doc rivers admitted that rondo wasn't giving the ball to Allen when he should have. i mean how would you feel if your less experienced co-worker has almost complete control over how well you do at your job? i would have bounced too and forget anyone who doesn't understand that.
