It's the 52 Hertz Whale. Its call is at such a unique octave that it can only be heard by it's own kind. Which is why its referred to as "the loneliest whale ". So to me in this the whale symbolizes when they felt alone but then realized ARMY had the same octave and voice they have. So they aren't lonely whales anymore because ARMY can hear them loud and clear hence they aren't alone anymore.

The part that hit me the hardest was the black wave. I'm surprised no one has mentioned that. The black wave (black ocean) refers to when they were new and the other fandoms got together and when BTS performed, everyone in the audience turned out their light sticks, no one cheered, it was quiet. What a heartbreaking insult. It affected them deeply and made them doubt themselves until Army showed up and ever since have out cheered everyone and turned every performance they've done, no matter where, into a BTS love fest with army bombs and cheering and fanchants creating a purple wave to carry them to the top. The boys love it. They've come so far. And Army makes sure to always cheer on every other group because it makes BTS happy to see their fans be respectful of others efforts.

I think that was in 2016- MMA awards?... But now I think those people are now ARMY'S.... But all those hardships made our boys even stronger.... But remembering that is really heart breaking...

And yet bts takes pride of armys who are cheering for another artists in award shows (seokjin said it himself) and he is so proud of armys whenever they do that. You see how it scarred them and knowing the feelings, they don't want it to happen to any other artist. This is why bts is so blessed and they get to where they are now because they remained grounded and humble. This is one of the million reasons on why armys are so protective of bts :--((

The black ocean, Yoongi's arm/shoulder, going through different eras (No More Dream, NO, Danger, BST, Young Forever, Not Today, Spring Day etc.) the Army logo turning into the BTS logo, the lonely whale, the stage, ugh it's a freakin' whirlwind of emotions!! These men went through so much. The fact that they ended with Boy With Luv hits so deep! They could've added 'ON' and Black Swan, but they didn't get to physically experience this era with us, no concerts, fan meetings or anything like that, so even though those songs are amazing and meaningful maybe it wasn't as special because it wasn't with us! They love us so much! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜😭

Absolutely I couldn't agree more bc they themselves as you know HV been affected in their own ways with crazy events of this year n even if they didn't tell us you could see it in each of them n they love performing for us at the concerts bc it's intimate n a festa with all us that can't be right there with them all time but we are😂🤣💜OT7 And did you see when they were talking about the other album coming together n song inspirations n ideas concepts for it touch on the time they had to reflect n also deeper our Jimin-shi wanting make sure Ami knew they were effected n emotional in this time as well and My precious Yoongi talking about the letter fell out the book the fan had gave him 😩😘again this why I Stan these adorable precious Kings

@@Mochi-dn7yl the black ocean was during melon music awards 2016 and what happened was that certain other fandoms (mostly exo-ls) turned off their lightsticks on purpose so bts had a dark crowd (a black ocean) while performing which is really, really disrespectful. (ironically though, bts won their first daesang at that exact show so, karma). by yoongi's arm she means yoongi's pre-debut accident where a car hit him and he permanently damaged his shoulder but never told anyone at bighit or the members in fear of getting kicked from the team. edit: i just checked and exo-ls gave the black ocean to bts at golden disc awards 2016 too... .... ...

The Whale is from "Whalien 52" is on my favorites BTS songs. 😘💜

Here I’m gonna try to list all the references in this MV in order. ARMY can fill me in if i miss anything. 0:14 The first scene, their old practice room. Go back and rewatch their old dance practice (BOY IN LUV, DANGER, etc.). Here RM wearing BOY WITH LOVE outfit (the present him) is visiting the old place and looking at his old self (NO MORE DREAM outfit) in the mirror. Now we start reminiscing our journey from the very beginning chronologically :)) 0:24 NO MORE DREAM is their debut song (the bus, the whole setting). That’s 15-year-old Jungkook. 0:36 WE ARE BULLETPROOF PT.2 - V with blond hair and glasses. Btw, he throwing those glasses was what he did in NO MORE DREAM. 0:51 N.O - Jhope raps “Don’t wanna die.” 0:59 BOY IN LUV - Jin 1:10 DANGER - Jimin 1:21 Someone has to help me explain the scary black thing behind Jin. I wasn’t ARMY there so I don’t know what happened to them. It can be shadows or darkness that swallow them. 1:23 Shattered mirror might represents hardships, dangers, and unfortunate things that happened. RM has been always associated with cracked mirror, even in his song REFLECTION. 1:26 Suga (outfit from I NEED YOU) with injured left shoulder/arm. When he was a trainee, he used to work part-time as a deliverer because he was poor and his parents didn’t support him as he pursued music career. 1:28 V is running, the ground collapsing. Not sure if it refers to any specific event. Let’s just call it hardship. 1:30 Jungkook is chased by the black ocean. You guys can look it up on google “BTS Black Ocean” to understand more. It’s basically fans from different fandoms together planned to turn off their light sticks during BTS performance at MMA and GDA 2016 to show dissatisfaction. To me it’s such a ridiculous thing to do🤷🏻‍♀️it’s also too cruel for the artists on stage. 😞 1:33 Not so sure what that red painting represents, but I would say it’s about the the dead threads that they received. Jhope previously raps “Don’t wanna die.” He runs and gets trapped in the box, struggling to get out of it. The box can be certain images or conceptions that people try to impose on them, take away their freedom, and make it hard for them to freely express their true selves. 1:44 RM falls into the ocean along with broken pieces of glass. Following is Suga standing up after falling. He keeps walking ahead. The glasses keep coming at him and he falls again. There’s “bulletproof” written on it, this may represent them starting to doubt whether they are actually bulletproof. You know how we sometimes doubted ourselves when we encountered hardships. 2:04 Purple lights (ARMY) help RM rise up from the deep sea. ARMY give him the courage to get back up to the surface again, not drowning anymore. As soon as the lyrics “Did the long winter really give way to spring?” hits in, RM goes up to the surface. Then we see “Bulletproof” written in complete without being broken. Now RM is back ~~~Next up is Suga. And finally darkness disappears. The whole scene is full of purple with flower pedals. If you pay closer attention, you will notice that the first half of the MV, all BTS members were alone by themselves. “We were only seven, but we have you all now” transitions to YOUNG FOREVER where the members come together for the rest of the MV. How sweet is that! 🥺 2:21 YOUNG FOREVER - RM with the rest of BTS. “Holding each other’s hands.” ~~~ 2:33 I NEED YOU 2:37 RUN 2:43 BLOOD, SWEAT AND TEARS 2:49 NOT TODAY 2:56 SPRING DAY but remember it’s still winter. 3:04 We saw BTS sitting around the bonfire 🔥 very frequently in music videos and bon voyage series. 3:08 RM with cute hat 3:09 V leans on Jimin’s shoulder 3:11 Our favorite duo SOPE (Suga-blond hair, JHope-red hair) 3:12 Jin and Jungkook 3:15 Kookie touches the purple light (ARMY). I practically had a hard time to control my emotion here. 🥺 From one single ARMY to many many ARMYs. 3:19 The whale holds so much meaning with BTS. Kore is RM’s favorite animal. Listen to their song WHALIEN 52. It’s one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. The title is a combination of “whale” and “alien”. The whale is alien because it’s an individual of unidentified species which calls at the very unusual frequency of 52 hertz. This pitch is a much higher frequency than that of the other whale species. It can’t be heard by other whales. Therefore, it’s the loneliest whale in the world. But the whale kept on calling until it was heard. BTS came from a small company. Despite all the hardships, they kept singing and calling through their music until they were heard by millions of fans. Or you know although they’re famous, they still feel like no one really understand how they feel or what difficulties they’ve been through, like no other whales can hear or know the Whalien’s crying. 3:35 BTS rise up on a bigger stage, surrounded by million ARMYs. It’s also a reference from WINGS TOUR THE FINAL when the boys performed Born Singer. They’re wearing the exact same outfits. (God, I loveee that performance, never get over it > BTS 4:11 BOY WITH LOVE 💗 Finally the spring that they’ve been waiting for came. 😭They ended here and didn’t include “map of the soul 7” probably because you know, they couldn’t go on tour and spend time with ARMY really. So it wasn’t as meaningful. The whole journey in this MV is basically the time when we’re actually together. 3:55 I think of this as how BTS sees ARMY. They are standing on stage looking out at the crowd and see thousands upon thousands of Army Bombs. Others also see it as ARMY being their wings. I think either way it's beautiful.

The part that they are crying is at the MAMA where they got their daesang and was talking about the disbandment. Some ARMY zoomed it in and hobi is holding the MAMA trophy.

The whale is from the song whalien 52 where they refer to a whale that has no the same vocal range as the others so it's a lonely whale that the other ones can't hear

That’s an interesting observation: “The drowning and the broken glass; seven years of bad luck.” Ironically, the number seven symbolizes many things to BTS. I’m not going to list them all, cause Army would know what I’m talking about.

Did you realize that the broken mirror that’s underwater drown with rm was the same mirror he steps into up to the top of the water? Realizing that all of the struggles, issues, hates and threats that were thrown into them, they use all those to live again and reach the top. I’ve watched this video over and over again but still makes me cry 😭😭💜💜 we don’t deserve these boys. Is there any other group who creates an album or an mv or lots and lots of music for their fans 😭😭😭💜💜💜 I’m cryinggg

Little thing I noticed that really pulled my heartstrings: The ARMY logo (symbolizing a shield) shifts to reveal the BTS logo (a door). The boys run through that door and they transform from their past selves (Born Singer) into their present selves (Boy with Luv). They got to where they are now through ARMY. BTS paved the way for many artists, but ARMY paved the way for BTS. 💜💜💜

Namjoon once said that he felt like that whale and no one could hear him. Jin told him he needed to speak up more about his feelings. He did this song bc he wants Army to know that they are never alone even if they feel no one can hear them. It’s the reason I LOVE him so much. This is one of my fav songs too. Plus the the whale from the VCR during Reflections.

Automatically my favorite MV. There is so much to say about this MV. 1: this is why they have soo many fans. They appreciate and love their fans. 2: As famous as they have become, they are still very humble and they don't let the fame get to their heads. 3: I love how RM started and how his character is the main character throughout the video. Being the leader of the group during the hardest times he was able to keep the group together. There was a point when J-Hope almost left and RM was able to get him to stay. I can't imagine how stressed out RM must have been during their hardest trials. 3: love the way they put in the other MV looking back. 4: the lyrics are just amazing! Love these 7 men and all their accomplishments. They are really amazing and full of love. Congrats to them and they are only going to keep going up. 💜💜💜💜

The reason why we're still walking with them is simple. They appreciate us as much as we appreciate them. They help us ARMY through the dark times as much as we help them. It's a sympiosis. And ARMY is crowing every day 😊. Every time I watch this video, it goes straight to the heart and tears of joy and appreciation are falling. These guys are simply amazing. Change is coming and it's name is BTS.

This whole MV just tells their whole story that's why eventhough it's animated, you can't help but to cry hard. The reference of Spring Day is that when BTS thought that that's their highest point in being artist not knowing that they can get higher so much more. And the purplr bubble turning into the whale, represents how BTS said that through ARMYS they have climb up higher and higher. the whale is one of BTS's masterpiece, "Whailen 52" the lonliest creature in the world that represents them, in their early days, people doesn't want to hear them out and hates them so much but now, that Whale is now heard not just by their country but in the whole world.

In 2016 bts performed at an awards ceremony and fans from other groups in the audience turned off the lightstics, as they did not accept that a group from a small company was gaining fame. At the time there were not so many armys in the audience, but they sang loudly to show the boys that they were there supporting them. It happened other times. It's sad that they remember that situation...

I hope I was there with them. I would scream on top of my lungs as loud as I could so they could hear me. Unfortunately, I wasn’t even into kpop that much, didn’t hear their name at all, and I was only focusing on my study as I was busy studying for the national exam.

I left one of WhatchaGot2Say vids playing in our bedroom and my hubby watch 2 ep of Cypher reaction and On vid!!! He will be ARMY yet!!!

When they are at the stage in the end, standing in a circle? It's recreating the scene from The Wings Tour the Final in Korea where they sung Born Singer again. The song in itself gets me hella emotional, but the first three times I watched the MV I cried my eyes out. I hope you can react to their FESTA 2020 Birthday Party! It's long, 56 minutes long, but I hope you can react to it, I would love to see it.

This video is 13 years of heartache and celebration they have felt expressed in just over 4 minutes and simultaneously thanking ARMY!💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

That opening scene with RM in a room walking toward a mirror wall was their very first dance practice studio where the old BigHit office was. Its where all their hopes and dreams were born. (Reference their old dance practice videos) Also, that part where BTS was sitting with a bonfire and they start ascending riding a whale to a very high stage - their outfits and hair colors were reference during their last day of the WINGS TOUR: The Final. When they were on top of the stage in the animation video, that circular formation they were in was when they sang "Born Singer" in the concert (they all cried, we all cried). Then the part where they were lined up while a red-haired character was in the middle crying and was holding something that resembles the MAMA trophy in 2018 - they were still wearing their WINGS TOUR Final outfit in that scene and Hobi had red hair at that time, but that looking closely that scene was also a reference to when Hobi was giving the award acceptance speech at MAMA 2018 where he (and the other boys) cried. Also, the very high stage kinda also symbolizes that they are now at the top, its looks cold, desolate and lonely, but ARMYS are there with them (purple lights)

Happy 1 year ARMYversary guys. This mv is so beautifully sentimental. My favorite part is when they are riding on the whale up to the stage. This is a reference to their song whalien 52, where a certain whale's frequency is so high and unique, that no other whales can hear it resulting in it being lonely. BTS adapted this when they weren't as well known their voices couldn't be heard and people refused to listen. But because of ARMY and of course the members' hardwork/dedication, they have reached new heights and millions of people to tell their story. And the fact that we have 7 more years with them is truly a blessing considering they almost gave up when it got too hard for them. I'm glad you guys are on this journey with us and these 7 musical legends. I purple you.

This is what I found out about both BTS and ARMY logos: BTS and A.R.M.Y are almost mirror images of each other and they have a relationship that is affected by each other. The symbol of A.R.M.Y is expressed as a door on their viewpoint who is waiting & welcoming BTS on the opposite door when BTS opens a new door.

In my option this is the best, most beautiful, and most moving love song bts has ever written for ARMYS.

This song made me emotional the first time I heard it. But hearing it now in THIS time... makes me even more emotional. Nico I thought I was the only one that felt that connection with this song and the state of the world today. For all my short time in this life I felt like we as a people couldn't be heard when we screamed out and that we were fighting this battle alone. Now to see so many others join us, letting us know that they do hear us....I literally just started sobbing because the guys are right. Together we are bullet proof. Thank you for your reaction.

That scene when they are on the stage with the sea of army bombs is one of my favorite memories. It is the end of the wings tour and they are singing born singer it just takes my breath away.

I've been an army since 2016 I cried so hard when I watched the video, it's been four years since I knew and loved them Thank you bts for making my life better and remember, army. Let's support our seven boys and love them 💜💜😍

The whale in the song Whalien 52 is the 52 Hertz Whale. Its sound is so unique it can only be heard by it's own kind which is why its called "the loneliest whale" .

I've been ARMY FOR 3yrs after my daughter introduced me to the wonderful world of Bangtan. One thing I have always said about BTS is their dedication to their fans. I don't recall many if any groups have ever been as humble as to give their fans more credit for them succeeding as high as they have without actually outright giving themselves enough credit. If the music wasn't good people wouldn't listen or buy. The fact they do so well here in the west again a credit to their music because the songs are mainly in Korean and rightly so. I think those 7 lads are just amazing such a big number in the group and all of them remain polite, humble, down to earth and are very philanthropic. Excellent role models for ARMYS as we've seen this past week by matching the guys donation to #BLM.

As beautiful a tribute this is to all ARMYs, my wish is that this song also serves as a welcome message to BTS's new label mates. They are truly no longer just seven for BigHit now. (now, where's that tissue)

This animation was so touching. It really speaks of their story and the feelings they wanted to convey in the song, I honestly can’t think of another way they could’ve done this mv. This festa week is a blast! This is my fourth year with them and I'm so proud of their success story. It brings a smile to my face 💜

The ending scene is when they are in the field with the flowers, it symbolizes them in heaven; their finally resting place, where they can be happy and peaceful with ARMY. 💜

The part where they are together and crying, the item that J-Hope is holding is supposedly the MAMA awards they've won for artist of the year. Some say it's probably a reference to MAMA 2018 because of their speech. Also, the outfits they are wearing at the end, are outfits from their Wings Tour Final in Seoul. If you find videos from those shows, such as performances and especially their speeches, you'll understand why it was referenced in the MV. Another reference I've seen from others is that the black ocean or black wave at 2:56, represents the "black ocean" if you Google 'black ocean BTS' you'll understand as well, it's probably one of the most awful things I've ever seen. All in all, all three of you MUST go to a MOTS concert, it'll change your life

The whale swimming in a see of purple stares represents BTS being together with army.........there was a time when BTS felt like no matter how much they screamed no one would notice them like the whale from whalien 52 until army came along and showed them that no mater what happens army will be there listening to that beautiful whale singing and the same love army has for them they've repaid tenfold

I was crying, because this song came out when I had a bad day. I just felt down. The boys always seem to know when ARMY need them. It is just a hard year. Everything seems to go wrong in the world, but like Jimin said that we should remember that there's someone in South Korea who loves us and are there for us. I love y'all's reactions. Really really do. Thank you. One of the (many) things I find so beautiful in this video is that at 4:49 all the purple lights (Armys) are like stars (Mikrokosmos) and they come together as constelations making the words WE ARE TOGETHER BULLETPROOF and later at 5:16 HAVE YOU HAVE YOU and an Army Bomb. The way I see it, in these two moments, it's not BTS singing that to us. It is Army saying those things to them. 💜 . Oh, and another thing that came to my mind now, when Blaze talked about the broken glass and 7 years of bad luck... they're celebrating their 7th Anniversary. The 7 years that could have gone bad (as so many people who didn't believe them probably thought would) were actually years of growth, learning and through hard work, they got to where they are today.

I think this is the first time a reaction to a BTS MV has moved me so much especially when you guys spoke about being locked in arms and being bulletproof with your friends and family and how it related to you as well as BTS and ARMY. I have watched 5 reactions to this MV so far and every time I ended up crying SO HARD.

Something you may not know, the part of the mv where the whale drops them off at the pedestal like thing and it mimics a concert? That's referencing to the Born Singer performance during the WINGS tour the final. And when they are crying the arrangement in which they are standing is the same as when Hobi gave his acceptance speech at the 2018 MAMA. You can even see him holding a mini trophy. This MV was so beautiful and hits so hard. I became an ARMY in 2018 and I'm getting so emotional I can only imagine what 2013 ARMYs must be feeling. I purple you all so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A powerful, massive whale going up up up through the clouds, carrying, protecting and pushing BTS all the way from the bottom to the top. There is power and safety in numbers; that is what ARMYS are for BTS. When Jin, I think touched the purple bomb and it turned into the whale, it dove downward and came up with the boys on it's back!!! That just signifies ARMYS all over the world carrying BTS on their backs and fighting for them when they couldn't fight for themselves. ARMY'S speaking for them when they didn't have a voice. The Whale/ARMY is propelling them onward and upward until they get to the very top... Heaven. I pray that it will always be that way, BTS and ARMY'S hand in hand fighting to make this world a better place. Such an uplifting MV! I am so grateful that I discovered these young men May 1, 2019. Quarantine has being really tough for me especially because in the beginning of the year I moved out from my hometown. Since then the loss of contact with my friends and the anxiety became really hard. I didn’t have enough time to connect with this new city until the whole quarantine thing happen. Somedays I don’t even wanna leave my bed. Everything is just so hard and painful that BTS telling me that everything will be okay is really healings rn. Great reaction btw💜

This song is just so beautiful yet emotional especially for me as ive been with them and an army since 2014. Also the purple orbs you see the whale both represent the Armys, the whale because when BTS rides it it represents us armys taking them to heights and places they never thought would ever be possible to reach and the purple orbs as our army bombs. I loved how they included the eras from No More Dream to NO to Boy In Luv to BST to Run to I Need You to Forever Young to finally When they get to the 2018 MAMA awards (that made me cry so much as it reminded me of them taking about how they discussed about disbanding) then they see the BTS logo infront of them and it changes into the Armys logo and they walk through it to finally end up in the Boy With Luv Era, this is the last era they showed in this MV as they havent experienced the ON era with us yet. This let's you understand why Jin cried so much on their first stage when his pants fell down, you're having a debut and the crowd can take you or leave you. Jin could have been seen always as that guy who dropped his pants, the group could be loved but he'd be branded as a joke no matter how long they go on. They still get upset by mistakes, but they're gradually coming to realize that the love is there, they have room for error and it's not scary to be in front of newer fans and coming ARMY's on tour, because they have us.

You don't have to be with them from the beginning to be called an army, BTS find you when you need them the most, even if you know about them just today, you are an army, you are part of our family and you aren't less than any other army

I don't know why but this comment made me cry. I'm a new ARMY but older in years (50 years old) and just discovered BTS a few months ago. Something about their music and performances has grabbed ahold of me and won't let go. I'm single and live alone in a town that I recently moved to. So I don't know anyone here. All my friends and family are in other US states. And with pandemic lockdowns, I've been really, really lonely. BTS's music and your lovely comment has made me feel like I belong to something/someone again - a community.

The whale 52 song is a masterpiece, in the video represent us, the army, we feel lonely sometimes like the whale 52, but in the concert we can feel lonely together, means we are not alone, so in the video the whale becomes a lot of purple light (armys), like they said "you never walk alone" cuz theres other people who feels like u, the purple light of course is army bomb but at the same time is every single soul in the concert , thats why they represent as a little purple light dot 💜💜💜

I am right there with you Nico. I have been w/BTS for a year now & I struggle to call myself an Army. Don’t feel worthy of the title. I got blessed to meet an OG Army on AMINO (Social app for BTS). She had been with them since day one. I have never in all of my 45 yrs met a more inclusive & welcoming fan base. When my kid recruited me she didn’t go for the top songs for 2019. She wanted me to get to know the guys from the beginning. Watching fan signs. Watching Yoongi making extra gifts bc more fans showed up than expected and he didn’t have enough gifts for them. Watching JK help Yoongi create more gifts for the fans that didn’t get one. Watching Yoongi pull Tae into the camera shot bc he was hidden for so long & wanting to make sure he was seen. Watching the guys cheer each other up & keep going after staying up for 2 days straight. I am so grateful for BTS, Army, My kid and Whatchers. My world has opened up so much to things I didn’t know or understand. Thank you for your honesty & love toward Whatchers & Army. Can’t wait to see next video.

Basically every little detail in the video has a reason why it’s in the video. I’m sure others will give you the details. The video goes through their history along with the hardships they encountered. For those of us who’s been there since the beginning or knows all of what BTS went through and recognizes all the symbolism in the video...it’s a very emotional video. It really hits deep. (The whale 🐋 is referenced from their song Whalien 52 - react to that if you haven’t so you get the meaning) I started to cry watching the video just after the first few seconds when RM sees his old self. You should watch the BlockB vs BTS battle from MAMA 2015. I was an army from their debut so I remember seeing it when it first aired live and I thought I was going to die I was so excited. Considering how big BlockB was at that point, BTS was definitely the underdog but they absolutely smashed it. It’s great “vintage BTS” content.

And more precious moments they share with us in all this 7 years.
