Raw Burst Mode and Canon R6 Mark II - why it really helps

Raw Burst Mode is an amazing (and rather overlooked) feature of Canon mirrorless cameras. Instead of creating dozens of raw files during an action shooting, it records only one big file. So photographers can easily select (in their camera or computer) the “frames” they like most and export them as raw, jpg or heif. It saves a lot of time and energy - so no more drowning in raw files!
Note: this video was shot with Canon R6 Mark II, but you can use Raw Burst Mode in more Canon cameras - such as Canon R7 or Canon R10.

Thank you for this instructional video on RAW Burst Mode and how to extract the images in DPP. The Canon documentation and benefit of this fantastic feature (and software) are undersold and frankly not well explained anywhere - until I found your video! Thank you for taking the time to create this helpful tutorial. Well done!

Hi Christopher and thank you for the comment, I am really glad the video helped! And yes, you are right, it is sometimes really surprising that Canon is not "selling" this feature. Only when testing this camera, I realised it was actually available on some more (cheaper) Canons released in 2022... Good luck! Jan

This the best explanation of how the Raw Burst Mode works, with very good examples of how to view in camera and with Canon Personal computer program. Thanks so much for all your help as I’m subscribing to your channel.

Very useful. Thank you. Quick question: Are you able display AF points, if enabled in the menus (in camera or DPP) on the captured images, similar to other shooting modes captured mages? This seems to be missing on my images.

Good question - I will check it next time I play with it. At the moment, the only fair answer is: I am not sure...

Hi, it really depends - but generally, the advantage is simple: you can have several big files instead of hundreds separate photos. Sometimes it makes sense, sometimes probably not... Jan
