Rattlesnake Hare Scramble | '23 KTM 350 XC-F | VCHSS Rd 13 of '22

Thank you to Jane Pennington Morris ( and all the others) for the wonderful race pics!
Boy howdy, that was a super fun race. VCHSS round 13, Rattlesnake, in Rural Retreat, Virginia is in the books. This is held at Wythe Raceway and what a great track this was. It was fast and flowy, had jumps and berms, and a decent amount of tight single track too. I'm on a 2023 KTM 350 XC-F and this bike really shined this race.

Been watching and subbed for a while.....first comment though.....Coming from a 50 yr old who has been riding since age 6, you've made some crazy improvements in such a short time. When you first said you've been riding for one year, I couldn't believe it (still don't LOLOLOL). I have a 2023 SX-F 350 and just ordered those same exact handguards from Cycra (expensive!)....even with the orange bumpers like you have (haha). How do you like them? I was attracted to the bend that allows the hand in and out of the wrap around. They get REALLY great reviews from what I've seen and read. Keep the vids coming!

Hey, thanks so much! Yup, rode a few farm bikes as a kid here and there, learned how to shift gears, that's about it. Started riding "regularly" as an adult, now have 1.5 seasons under my belt. I love it so much, but wish I had started riding years ago! I'm still very happy with the Cycras. They're the third brand of full-wraps I've run and by far my favorite. The plastic shields are strong and stay attached, and the full-bar is very sturdy as well.

I’ve been on the fence on what bike to get. I’d love to be able to afford both a 4t to race and a 300 2t to ride single track but ya know. I see there have been some really good updates/upgrades to the 23 350 xcf that widen the overall use and make it more versatile. I want to start doing some scrambles and sprint enduro racing and think the 23 up 350 xcf is the ticket. Nice video bro. I enjoy you vids.

Haha! I was so not mad at you! I pulled over to the left line to let y’all pass, then when you stalled it was more that I felt bad because I had to go cos I was in the lead and trying to win the old lady Championship!. I think I said, “I have to go.” Then I got maybe a lil mad when I started and the guy behind you started to move between us. I was scared he and I would tangle and then we’d be one giant mess 😅 The next stall, I thought you were tipping over so I was reaching to try to pull you up. Then I realized you were just trying to lean out of the way. Sorry you had to pass me 3 times 🤣🤣 Our fam enjoys your videos! Jessica 14N

That is so cool, thank you for watching! A few of us were having this exact conversation right before the race. I believe the manual says 144, but that is likely not an ideal setup for woods racing. I currently run 138 and one of the faster guys in my class has the same exact bike and runs 136. Admittedly, I'm still playing around with it to find the best setup. The guy who runs 136 said he's about four clicks out for Max rebound in order to increase the rebound. I think he said he softened up the compression a little bit too. Again this is for woods riding not track. I still really need to mess around with mine quite a bit to find a good setting because my front end is a bit bouncy in the tight and technical portions

Have you had any problems with Flameout on the 350? Thinking about getting one, I weigh 190 wondering if it can handle that weight on long Hill Climbs. I currently have a 09 yz250 that is set up for the woods. I have raced St Clairesville GNCC two times.

That's good question, I'm not sure. I know the four strokes are a little bit more fuel efficient than the two strokes but I'm not quite certain what the MPG is. I think KTM has almost the same exact size gas tank for each bike.

I think that the reason why it's not starting is because you are turning the gas as you hit the start button! On fuel injected bikes you shouldn't turn the throttle while starting! Great ridding!
