Fun fact: at 22:47 the word pericybthion was used, but why not perilune? Here’s the difference: Pericynthion - Point nearest to moon of object in lunar orbit - object having been launched from body other than moon. Perilune - The point at which a satellite (e.g.spacecraft) in its orbit is closest to the moon: differs from pericynthion in that the orbit is moon-originated.

A successful failure! I like how Teamwork was applied in this situation. Amazing how they handled all of this

Gene Krantz is a hero of mine: his reaction to Apollo 13 is a case study in how to handle crisis. And now I find out his voice is a dead ringer for Dan Aykroyd!

Looks like they could have scavenged parts from the service module and made a manual generator to charge the batteries

In a weightless environment a manual generator would spin a long time

😅 interesting thought. Any DC motor could be used to do that. Maybe something from a blower fan or something like that?? I'd be curious to know how many electric motors and what types would've been available.

Yes. Microwave ovens use DC motors to rotate the plate inside

@@n9zmnit's an amazing story about Apollo 13. I just wondered if anyone had considered using what was available to replace the electricity they were using

Complaining about the circles is like the diner who clears their plate, then when the server asks how the meal was, answers "terrible."

At 34m50 talking about amps per hour doesn't make any sense. I will convert that to average amps to keep being mostly sane.

I hear you there. The reporter got his units wrong. The engineers talk in amp-hours at about 40:00, so fingers in ears until then! :-)
