6:22 I agree with the android one. It give off that 2010s vibe, and the new bugdroid looks like it was made in a professional 3D modeling app, like Blender. I also agree with the uppercase A in the text. It irritates me, and hopefully Google changes the text to all lowercase soon. P.S. - I love your channel! 😄 Keep the good work up! (also can you pin this? if you do, I would be super happy because I’ve never got one of my comments pinned).

The new android logo really gives me hope that we get to see more of a new style trend similar to frutiger aero and skeuomorphism where logos gets more complex and stylish and not so soulless and flat like we have been getting the past years (with the new Mozilla logo being really the worst offender of this)

Great video! I'm so confused as to why companies remove their mascots in favour of a more generic text font. Mascots seem to be a thing of the past now and it makes brands feel even more corporate and soulless than they used to be.

Personally, I feel that the new Pepsi logo is a huge improvement. I am still not over the loss of the shards and sweatdrop look of the 00s, so I have a major vendetta against the late 00s/10s logo so I am glad it was replaced. I stopped drinking Pepsi after they made that change and switched to Coke for many years until dropping soda altogether. Anything that takes it closer to what it used to be is an improvement in my book.

Exactly what I was saying, I think the Fanta, Pepsi, Intel, and YoCrunch logos look awesome, and they do simplicity perfectly because they keep the image of the company while updating it for a newer generation. Nostalgia is a drug, you'd be missing out on such amazing logos. If I had to choose my favorite rebrand this year it'd be Pepsi, they brought back their golden era logo and it looks 100x better than that Pepsi Universe oversimplistic crap.
Twitter's new logo is by far the worst.

watching this channel is a huge nostalgia trip. great videos
i never been a fan of the pepsi logo for years and seeing this is quite an improvement. some people will complain saying the "retro" re-branding is a cliche but it's better than modern business flat colors.
Awesome! I wish you'd make a breakdown of aesthetics and trends throughout decades. I'd love to see it!
The new Android logo takes me back to the old days of skeuomorphism. Love it. Gotta admit, some of these new designs are actually pretty good, but nothing beats the classics from the 2000s and early 2010s
Another cool video! I honestly don't mind most recent redesigns. Yeah, some are extremely simple, and I think a balance is the key. Like the 2017 Firefox logo, which was the best one, in my opinion. But some new logos are better. The new Bugdroid is great. Even if I really liked the previous one, I think this one is more balanced. I don't really like the older shades of green for the first versions of the logo. Same goes for the new Thunderbird logo. I think it's great, and the subtle messaging icon gives it a special touch.

Hi, I just discovered your channel a few days ago and I'm absolutely in love with it 😭💕 the frutiger aero, ur essays on technology/ui design is all something I'm interested in. Ig it's niche but I'm so glad someone out there is passionate about it
Seeing that "Food" section, it's no wonder USA has such a big child obesity problem I pray those types of candy disguised as food does not get popular in Europe.
Very enjoyable to listen to your way of thinking about the logos. I don’t always agree but it is very fruitful to listen and learn by your perspective of the logo art change. It’s also very entertaining 🙌🏼
I LOOOOVE this channel so much. Started watching since that Frutiger Aero video and I've been a fan ever since.
Another excellent video. Well presented, concise and something that many people think about without stopping to consider the deeper aspects!
Slayyyyy! I loved this video! It was so informative and entertaining! Love love love ❤️
This is great! Probably one of my favorite content creators
im glad the channel is back
I didn't even know most of these logos were changed! Great video as always.
This just goes to show how logos are generally downgrading in quality over the years, which is a shame. Artistically speaking, making logos distinct from one another is what helps people recognize your brand. Having logos all look similar to one another (whether it's using the same colours - Google - or flat fonts) usually make recognizing them a lot harder, imo. Hoping to see a huge logo renaissance soon!

Same with architecture and interior design, a generic crappy mcmansion built in the 90s is more architecturally appealing inside and out than an all gray, white or black or rarely navy blue house today

You're feeding off of nostalgia lol *Gloss and overly done drop shadows can only get you so far, and this is a perfect example of just that.* Pepsi brought back their iconic layout for their logo while introducing "Pulse" which is their new design name. Fanta went with a logo that can be adapted to other flavors. (grape, orange, etc) Nokia is going with a logo that stands out more and stands out more than their very basic logo, it looks like a technology logo now finally. YoCrunch made simplicity look great as they go with something flatter yet a lot more creative than their past logo design which looked extremely outdated. Drumstick adds a little ice cream on their logo while making it modern, it's actually cute. The Jack in the box logo is literally the same with thicker font so it's easier to read. This video is literally just undefined crying over nostalgia, people seriously need to understand how to live the moment other than cry about the past.
Great review! I love your videos :)

Attack of the Blurples.
seems like the trend is moving towards more brutal, in your face stuff. thick fonts, really bright colors, etc.
I was a kid back in 2004 and it's so funny watching you call the "new" designs, "old" designs. I remember when a lot of them changed over and I was upset by it lol. However I agree with most of your takes, keep up the good work
Just the notification I wanted!
We are experiencing the opposite of frutiger aero, brands have given up on the idea of a green utopia
Wouldn't mind more Rebrand Roundup videos.
Fantastic video. Agreed
Hey undefined, I don’t know if you watch anime or not but there’s this anime called Jujutsu Kaisen that I think you should check out. More specifically, the start of the second season of it which takes place in the 2000s. I feel like the color scheme and art style explores the frutiger aero aesthetic! You should check it out and maybe do a more in depth analysis? Cheers!
Nice video
Definitely agree on a lot of things, especially the Google logos. I watched your video about Android design eras yesterday and I realized I really enjoyed the papercut feel. Disagree on Pepsi and Baskin Robbins. For Pepsi, I’m honestly a fan of the cartoony feel and I think it was a well-done combination of retro and modern. For Baskin Robbins, I still dislike it but I think the design is pretty nice, and the use of brown isn’t so bad. Definitely kills the logo’s personality though.
i love your videos!!
Awesome video!
very good
Finally another video
Good channel and i like logos
Nice
Some of my thoughts: - The Pepsi logo peaked in 2004. - The new Baskin Robins logo is an atrocity. - The Intel swoosh was iconic. - The Nokia logo makes sense, because they sold off their cell phone division to HMD Global. HMD will continue to use the old logo while the remaining part of Nokia will use the new one. - The new Google icons look too similar and are hard to tell apart. - New logos in general feel so uninspired, generic and boring. Back in the 90s and 2000s you really had those wacky, over the top logos that were unique and interesting.
Fun fact: The real Nokia rebranded it's logo to distinguish itself from the "Nokia" phone creator (HMD Global). That's why New Nokia phones released still have the old logo. Nokia with the new look is Nokia itself, now a network company, and Nokia's Phone division, sold to MS, then HMD, is the one with the old logo.
Wow, only one positive change for you!
Lunchables in that weird all-caps font makes it more challenging to read, in particular for children who rely on the shapes of lower case letters...
And just when I've finally been getting used to the 2010s logo redesigns, versus the 80s and 90s logos I grew up around in the 90s. It's kind of funny how some of them are circling back, like Burger King. I wish Intel would just accept it and circle-back all the way to the dropped-e design.
I always wonder what the meetings at marketing departments are like these days. "We need a new logo: one that is more generic, less distinct, less personal, less eye catching, and says less about our brand!"
The Pure Life design with the yellow made it look like it was lemonade
Great video, but I have a video suggestion, can you do a deep dive to Frutiger Metro? That would’ve been really cool.
Amazing video! I wish we could go back to a more aero era, but I guess we have to move on at some point. That might just be the nostalgia talking though

As for the google icons, that's why old Material Design (2016) is my favourite style.
HOW DID I MISS THIS
personally logos like firefox and material you-i-fied google look nice.
The first time I saw the new android logo, I was very excited to see the return of the 3d logos... I got tired of the simple flat logo
No way, I thought the android logo was a mock-up you made for the thumbnail but it is actually their new logo. I quite like it, I wonder where they're going to go with their brand
Quite an insight to see how companies evolve or devolve, great video. From me, I think the new Pepsi logo is quite alright, has the look similar to the ones that lasted from late 1960s to early 1990s. I'm neutral on that logo, so i'll be fine with it. (P.S.: Despite those ones looking good and new logo going back to them, I feel like the best era of Pepsi logo will be from late 1990s to late 2000s. The 3D logo looked awesome)
A lot of these new logos are really great, and I've found that with a lot of logo changes, there's outrage for a good while and then people start to actually like the new logos. I feel like most people respond way too negatively to the new logos just because they like the old ones, even if the new ones are just as good or sometimes even better.
I'm watching this at 4 am 😅
Awesome video however what's with the overly negative scores on the meter at the end of each redesign? There are ones where you don't actually say anything negative but the meter still goes very far into the negative? Seems like a bit of an odd choice.
The saddest rebrand will always be Patreon for me. Especially when they made a whole song and dance about their new look. Why oh why.
The Fanta change was the end of that early 2000s grunge logo design its so sad
5:34 there's a new firefox logo
Seeing some of those logos for the first time I can't help but feel you're very nostalgia-driven
I only saw the yellow Pure Life packaging for like a couple days

Babe wake up undefined just posted
the new android logo makes me think we're finally moving away from the flat design phase. and I'm looking forward to it!
I actually know a guy who was in the design team of that fanta logo! he was my ex's dad
nokia isnt owned by same people anymore, so it makes sense to let go of the prestige. they simply aren't the same as they were before
i agree with pretty much the entire video. i'm a big android enthusiast and love the new 3d android logo and i hope they start using bugdroid more again.
6:03 man i miss the old google play logo, the bad was sweet
Am I the only one who personally prefers the brown over the blue in the Baskin Robbins logo? Combined with pink, it reminds me of Neapolitan ice cream
The biggest loss in the new Pepsi logo is that that utterly insane pepsi logo design doc is no longer relevant.
I have never disagreed more with a videos opinions Buuuuut it was fun seeing all the new and old logos side by side. Great video
⭐ ;; Don't get me wrong, what google did with the whole theme of their new logos isn't bad, it's just I think that it could have been done a different way, like making some icons blue with some hints of other google colors, like a blue camera with three stripes, red, yellow, green, for google photos
I WANT A FRUTIGER AERO COMEBACK SO BAD BRUH!!! 🔥
the Android one is "hey. lets go backwars"
you clearly haven't seen the original Intel logo from 80s. This rebrand is much needed when they started to get forgotten and behind, its starting to become their traditions. their swoosh logo is done when they behind AMD in 2006 too
@TheSUPERWIND2023

Exactly! Pepsi for an example is using a modification of their older logo that they've used during the 60s-80s (which was when they became #2 in the cola market).
Why am I not surprised that your favorite change is Android’s lol
I don't like the new Baskin Robbins logo because it makes the 31 way too obvious. In the previous design, I didn't even notice the 31 until someone told me it was there!
can we all just admire how papa johns simplified their logo twice
The Twitter -> X rebranding is, IMO, a disaster. For no other reason it kills SEO and brand recognition. No one I know calls it X and most actively refuse to. Elmo's just fixated on this idea of having a company called X (and has been for years), like some kind of damn supervillain. (X has also traditionally not been what you'd call a... family-friendly letter.) I'd love to see a deep dive on the whole thing, if you've ever given that some thought.
when will you come back? we're still waiting for the episodes. I'm curious if it's because of school/work or a big project. If it's 2, I can't wait. COME BAAAAAAACK!

I actually don't mind the new (or current) logos for Firefox and Thunderbird. Firefox is my default browser, so I see the logo everyday, and I think the design looks pretty good. The same goes for the new/current Thunderbird logo design, even if I don't use Thunderbird. Sure, the more detailed designs do look pretty nice too, but the current ones aren't bad either. I think these are pretty decent rebrands.
The "optical illusion V" is actually called a Penrose triangle!
I think you could make a video based on bugdroid because only like a few people know about it
Nokia-branded phones will still use the old logo.
Well I feel like (in most cases) the simplification Trend is having a drawback in recent years, you can find on current movie posters like the metallic font of the movie the flash (2023), fast X (2023), the 65 (2023), transformers : rise of the beasts (2023), gran tourismo (2023), Renfield (2023), and spy Kids Armageddon (2023)
someone needs to do an analysis on blurple sweeping the tech industry fr
You know what, they move away from more natural themes in branding is probably more honest on the brand's part lmao. Great video, even if I didn't agree with your opinion on some of them they were all fair. Definitely agreed on most of them.
