Nice gear - rifle looks awesome. You should make some videos about your rifle specifically, shooting it, what you like and dislike, changes, etc.

I don’t know much about hunter matches but you seem to be well prepared now, all the best! Hope you can video some of it or do a debrief

I'm not necessarily an NRL hunter master, but I've shot one, and a handful of other field matches that I've done fairly well at. I'll chime in a few of my thoughts. Three mags isn't a bad idea - it's really easy to forget to reload a mag between stages, I think my partner or I did that at the one Hunter match we shot, and we were glad to have had an extra loaded one. Spare RF binos is very smart. Obviously your EL range and rifle/bipod/tripod setup is a big time winner, that won't hold you back at all. Having a hard card on an armband or something with hard dope and some wind reference numbers is a good idea as well. The biggest critique I'd offer is in the bag department. One heavy sand filled full size/shmedium gamechanger is an absolute MUST in my opinion. Git-lite is darn good, but it just doesn't equal sand for stability, so I'd recommend your spare smaller bag to be git-lite, and use the heavy sand for your main usage. I realize it's a big weight addition, but if you practice odd out of position shooting with a git-lite and a sand filled bag side by side, I think you'd find the stability gain is worth it. One thing you might also look at is getting a flat bag to strap onto your tac table and leave there (i.e. the AG Mini Plate Pro Pad). You'll essentially never use your tripod mounted plate without a bag on top of it, and having a bag that simply stays there and can't fall off while you're moving from position to position is really nice. I think a spare bipod is unnecessary - I cannot imagine a field shooting scenario where you'd need to go shorter than what a triple pull will go. You've got a pretty kickass setup, you will enjoy NRL Hunter a ton, it's really hard and really fun.

You probably won’t be carrying most of that stuff after you get a few matches under your belt. Most people start out carrying way more than they need. Ammo, minimal tools, one or two bags, snacks and water. Rain gear if the forecast calls for it. One suggestion is to use your rifle clip on your tripod. It will save time setting up at the beginning of the stage and get you on glass a little faster

Love your videos! Agree with others. I have shot some NRL hunter. Never seen LRF binos fail( I obviously have seen them fail to communicate with the Kestrel). Are you using an armboard or attach to the gun- pick one. , never seen a bipod fail, rarely see more that two bags being carried. Your never going to use that TAB gear bag ( which I have and love)- it's never that flat.

I'm going to have an armboard with pre filled out cards when I'm at location to reference for data. However, I plan on using the vinyl cards to the Cole-Tac Cheat Sheet on scope when I range targets as that is what I use for NRL22 for on stage reference. As far as the bipod, the only reason I'm considering the spare bipod is only for situations where the triple pull just doesn't work. Of course, this may be over thinking things. But I will use this first match as a good primer on what works and what doesn't. Much appreciated.

sounds good on the data management. The thing on the bipod ,when you hit a stage changing bipods is just one thing too many to do. If it takes 10-15 seconds that's one target you may not shoot. The triple pull takes up more real estate when low- but you can throw your big bag or pack behind it. Not many opportunities for prone anyway. Best of luck. The Hunter matches are by far the most fun shooting I have done.

I think that you may be carrying too many things in terms of redundancy, like yes take the extra binos but keep them in the truck and carry the RF as backup. I would also run a few mock up scenarios with and without all the extra kit and see if it slows you down or not

I agree about using vehicle for storage. However, the match in January does not allow you access to your vehicle once you step off for live fire. "Hunters will be shuttled into the hunting area, so plan accordingly, as access to vehicles will not be available during the match. Contingency for poor weather conditions is to hike into the hunting area which would be approximately 1 mile."

@@ocabj well in that case yeah its best to carry spares on you, but do make sure you practice with it all on you just so yoy can get used to all the bulk

Spare pair of socks, zip ties, duct tape (not a roll, 10 feet wrapped around a tripod leg or something similar), TP (in the same baggy as the socks). I have never regretted bringing any of those things anywhere. I also feel like you may have too much stuff, but you won't know what you don't need until you don't need it. Go ahead and over pack for the first time, and make notes about what you didn't need for the next time.

Text book example of how to throw money at a problem that you don't even have. What a crazy amount of gear (and money) for someone who has never attended an NRL Hunter match let alone hunted period,

too much 1 bag, keep the GC 1 lrf bino, handheld LRF backup if you want it won't need 120rds per day IMO add: >10' duct tape, light weight QD back up sling, 10' paracord
