Well the movie is an alternate universe same with this game, their apart of the infinitely expanding omniverse of ratchet and clank with rift apart's ratchet and clank being the originals. But you ain't wrong but when you think of it like I said then the movie can kinda start to be appreciated.

That 'Backup gloves' gag had me laughing out loud. That's such a subtle, specific reference to how every Lombax is always wearing gloves for some reason. There was a lot of references and item models from previous games, but it also wasn't boring or expositional or super serious story edgy Ratchet from the Future series, I liked it a lot. I think if they make it into a series it doesn't have to be super cannon serious storyline like the game series, cartoons have a different pacing and it's interesting seeing the characters outside of the 'epic' storyline. Let the writers have some fun with it (if they even decide to do it), while keeping to original cannon as much as possible, that's how good stuff gets made when creativity flows.

This Lombax didn't want to use the Dimensionator to find his family, yet he used a similar (yet seemingly weaker) device to open a portal to the Pizza Dimension. I love it!

S…OD really takes it to another level so I’d love to see what RA has up its arsenal. Hard to justify a £600 console for one game tho )o; … Super sad both titles aren’t cross platform cos i miss out on later Ratchet games but PS owners are robbed of the phenomenal S…OD which is my favorite game of all time & i know I’m not alone in that. Not fair -an exclusive is just paying to keep top titles from the competitor’s player base which is a Dick Move in both directions.

I had no idea what to expect with this. I wasn't expecting Ratchet or Clank to have their personalities back. I wasn't expecting to have my mouth WATER at the idea of a 300+ topping pizza. I wasn't expecting to laugh out loud because of a PUN. And I certainly wasn't expecting to be absolutely amazed by this GORGEOUS animation. Top notch all around

puns are the lowest form of humour and I just 'Cranked' that one out. Let's Ratchet up the quality eh. I could go on but it's pun-ishing to operate at this level of humour. That took me the exact time to think of that it took to type. if u want puns i'm available to churn out 100 per hour; also weddings & bar-shfits-mas (sweaty coming of age ceremonies: last freebie) PS: word to the wise- there is a number of pizza topping where diminishing returns kick in fast. Why wasn't the 2016 movie this good? It was just Ratchet and Clank but dumbed down for kids. In this 23 minute short the characters are actually who they are in the games, not what the studio decides their personalities should be so they are "safe for kids"!

Not necessarily an ego, just a slightly selfish prick, as with his original personality in the very first game. Like Mainframe were trying to apologize for Ratchet being a wide-eyed good boy in the movie. Which i find to be pretty funny. Clank being petty is a bit out of character, trying to anger Ratchet on purpose by bringing that dickhead Qwark on the mission, fully knowing that he will steal the credit.

Its also fun to note that they gradually warm back up to each other as ratchet realizes how big a a threat Drek poses. They don't just stay jerk for the last section only to 180 at the climax. Yay proper character writing.

If I were to make something like that, I would have a Dreadzone series with having Team darkstar with the same as all 4 one. first, Cap’n Starshield, kid nova ratchet & clank would be Team darkstar, but then after ratchet and Clank survives they would become all serious and each of the new members, including ratchet & Clank Dr. Nefarious, Cap’n Qwark. The fact that the pizza people seemed to calm down seems to indicate Quark had a talk with them while Rachet and Clank were gone. Maybe it was about why he went on a Pizza rampage saying about how everyone loves Pizza and he just couldn't help himself. That could explain why people were cheering. This is giving me such '80s Saturday morning cartoon vibes, I love it.

Mainframe, you have restored my childhood love for good old Ratchet and Clank. Excellent writing! Characters are very faithful to the older games by far. I would have loved to see the two characters butt heads in the movie (and reboot game) like they did in this short. If only Insomniac took Ratchet and Clank back to their roots a bit more.

I agree that almost every character is pretty out of character in this. If there ever is going to be a Ratchet and Clank TV series it has to try harder than this.

Even Ratchet? I wouldn't say he's so much "stupid" in this as he is selfish. Like an anti-hero. But his personality still feels believable for a teenager or young adult (he's 19 according to Google), and he does eventually do the right thing, so I wouldn't say his personality is detrimental.

They probably did that because they had to reuse models, and the old Biobliterator was too low-poly. This was just a pilot, after all.

Size Matters and SAC are kind of weird, and don't really fit into the main canon anyway, so it'd actually make sense to say they take place in the weird kid's cartoon universe of the 2016 reboot 😂

Wow, this was phenomenally executed from beginning to end! Even if I had no idea about the Ratchet and Clank franchise this would still be one of the most impressive animated short films I've ever watched. Here's to hoping the series will continue to exist in some medium...

I love the fact that they used some of the weapons from the first PS2 game, such a nostalgic mood

Also I love how rachet is way more expressive in these 20 mins then he was in the 2016 movie

He wasn't douchey after the first game, but he was stubborn, and sarcastic. In this one, it's non-canon but he seems to have his Future Series personality, a mix between his old one and new one, where if something keeps getting in his way he gets pissed, but is generally friendly.

@@matthew8153 Not all of them. From R&C: A4O, they swapped to 30FPS. Ratchet 2016 is only 60FPS on PS5 and Rift Apart requires you to use Performance or Performance RT mode to hit 60FPS.

The way Ratchet is acting reminds me a lot of Sonic.

I'm guessing Dr. Nefarious didn't realize that Dimensionators exist until Rift Apart.

This feels like it would be a holo-vid show in their universe. I can already imagine how it would work. After the events of Rift Apart, Dr. Nefarious decides being a villain isn't all it's cracked up to be and becomes an actor. Ratchet, Clank and Quark join in for a show. Doesn't explain why the top of Clank's head is light blue, though. -or why his right arm isn't yellow-

The real question is: was this created by the great people at Insomniac games? If so, when do we get more? 'cos it's absolutely awesome, and it just feels right to bring back my nostalgic Ratchet & Clank 1 vibes.

I honestly had low expectations for this, but i was pleasantly suprised how good it actually was. Characterization was spot on. Those who wrote this clearly love and cared about Ratchet and Clank, unlike those who wrote the lame ass movie. I am gonna miss Jim Ward.

While he's not at his most likable here, I at least appreciate how he and Clank now have a real dynamic, something that's sorely lacking in most of the later games.

By the way, @ 22:09, that was Ratchet that said "proximity alert", not Clank.

This entire video was absolutely entertaining, and moreso than the 2016 movie AND Rift Apart. Ratchet and Clank actually had personalities that seem to best fit their characters, and through good pacing and humorous moments, it was a complete package of fun to watch. None of this has been present for a very long time in the series, and while I'm glad that both our main characters have grown past the minor childish acts they commit here, I'd still want them to carry the sort of dynamic that makes them both work. I'm real happy that this short movie exists, and I hope to see more of it.

What an episode with my favorite Furball and his scrappy bot friend. They're acting like the PS2 games, but with high quality graphics, and even if some animations go to much "cartoon", with 23 years I would like and totally watch the cartoon if this two

I would like to see a Ratchet and Clank TV series. It reminds me a lot about Sonic Boom and how that was. This though should be pitched to either Netflix or some other streaming service that isn't HBO.

What the gosh dang heck is this show? Like it came out of NOWHERE, It doesn't even directly promote Rift Apart. It's a total acid trip of an episode. And I love it. Like seriously I love this way too much it feels like. I wish we could get more. A whole show of THIS insanity? Frickin hell yeah, dude!

AGH the chemistry between these two is done great here! Story is about on par from what I expected from a ratchet and clank cartoon. Funny as hell, action packed and very silly. Just- UGH I'd kill to have a full animated series in this style.
