That "Monster World" magazine, dated Jan. 1965, (at 43:29) has a great full page pic inside on page 4 of an "Incredibly Strange Creature" brandishing a knife over a captive Carolyn Brandt (co-star of "Rat Pfink a Boo Boo") and in fact, that picture (along with many other monster pictures from this same issue) adorn the inside of Grandpa Munster's OLD CHEST down in his lab (I think it's shown in the Billy Mumy episode "Come Back, Little Goodie"). The Munster's property master sure got a lot of mileage out of that one "Monster World" magazine!

An early and rarely-acknowledged innovator in the 'genre-switch' mode, perhaps following on from the recent box-office hit Psycho. Roeg certainly must have seen Rat Pfink when directing Performance a few years later. Later film makers like Quentin Tarantino and more recently Ben Wheatley would go on to develop and finesse the technique but it is with this film that it had its origins. As with many 'fringe' creative minds, it is only when their ideas are borrowed and enter the mainstream that their influence is felt.
