In this video we really dive into Affinity and I show you how to rasterize your artwork and perform different methods for a Knockout Black to prepare your art for DTG, DTG and Laser White Toner printing, to name a few.

Thanks!!
Thanks for explanation :)
Great explanations. I was wondering how the halftone method could be varied for different color shirts. The Rasterize to Mask function shows the white area as visible and the black is effectively will be the color of your shirt. How would this have been done on a white shirt, for instance?
I am getting into white toner printing.. however I have not ever used a photo editing program. Only vector art - how do you create the white layer that will go on the bottom - and contract it by about 3-4 pixels?
Can you do color separation in affinity? For screen printing.
So i have 1 question or maybe I missed it. Are the pixels that were transparent, solid after raster? What I mean is, in white toner (and even in screenprint), a white underbase is applied in order to do darker shirts. And since neither process can print "opaque" pixels (pixels with transparency) what we do is make those opaque pixels solid and then change to gradually halftone it out to fade it into the shirt to create the "effect" of transparency. If you don't and try to print as is, the underbase shows thru and you get a white haze in those areas. I was carefully watching the smoky red areas in all 3 methods and they still appear to still have transparency, albeit with holes in it. In PS this easily fixed by creating a bitmap halftone mask and use the original image as a clipping mask inside of it, but you have much less control of the halftone and the vibrancy of color gets dull because your eyes are drawn to the black. But this is otherwise a much more controlling and cost effective way instead of a $500 RIP.

I have added an update to the Rasterization kit that will create the halftones with no transparency.
Very nice work, but I can't do the same way in PhotoShop. This software is very powerful. I have a question, once you're done with rasterization, do you print directly from Affinity Photo? Is there something like clipping mask, like PhotoShop to print artwork without white background?

There is a live filter u can use called ‘’erase white layer’’
Please help me. The quick knockout black only works half the time. Some of my images it just turns them black. Please respond to my email. Thank you

Hi. Did you get an answer?
Which technique(s) does your kit have, and does your kit work with Affinity Photo2?
