sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade then sudo apt install labwc Then you do sudo raspi-config then select Advanced/Wayland and you should see an option to choose the window manager.

Great video Lee, I would also like to update existing as my setup is ready for my DJ Streaming using OBS on the PI5...don't want to interfere with it right now lol
00:59 - I use a masking tape to hold down the short nvme drives. I always worry I might damage the pins if the drive sticks out too long, or accidentally dislodge the drive at when the pi is running. Great video overall other than that small quirk.
Running fine on my 4GB Pi 4.

Apparently you have to install the latest ISO to get the new window manager. I have an older version which is fully updated, but the option doesn't appear in raspi-config. That's annoying because I don't want to nuke and pave.

Oh wait, you can install it with apt. But it is not pushed as a regular update.

Here is how I did it: sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade then sudo apt install labwc Then you do sudo raspi-config then select Advanced/Wayland and you should see an option to choose the window manager.
Hope you will have a link to your KDE v4 soon.

still using your kde plasma setup on pi4 as it does for my everyday media player with no issues. wasn't openbox what twister os was using few years ago?
For the drive sticking out, a little bit of blue tack can solve that 😂
not a fan of cloud integration with the connect feature, but i guess that's how everything is going,. if i need to connect to my systems at my house, i vpn into my house and do it....
Im so lucky i just moved to rasbian for the first time today LOL idk why i didnt do it earlier bcz its very fast and i can run game very well

is there a way to get all the updates in the new version without having to re-image? I use 'sudo apt update' and 'sudo apt full-upgrade' often. This doesn't seem to have everything that's in the release notes for the 2024-07-04 version.

Greetings. Could you help me telling me a way to control the screen brightness? I'm using your OS on my RPi 4 but what I have as monitor is an old HDMI TV that you cannot lower the brightness. That wasn't a problem when I was running Twister OS cause it has an app that lets you control the brightness, it is called Pibright. Unfortunately Twister OS was giving me a lot of troubles so I stopped using it months ago. I've been trying several things on your OS, like 4 apps from the discovery store, brightnessctl and xrandr with no luck. Is there anything else I can try? Thanks in advance.

I've updated my RPI4s to bookworm. I don't get the labwc option in raspi-config though. Is this exclusive to RPI5?

I don't get the labwc option on either of my Pi 4 or Pi 5. Both were upgrades (not installs like Lee does). and I'm remoting in with VNC if that makes any difference.

@@An.Individual I also did an upgrade, not a new install. Perhaps it's this process that misses out installing required components? BTW - I also don't get a shared desktop via the RPI remote service. I can only ssh.
