Does RP1 have PIO like RP2040?

No, it's different from the RP2040. The RP1 “southbridge” is responsible for most of the I/O functions on the Raspberry Pi 5. By delegating the majority of the I/O to a separate southbridge, the main SoC can be more straightforward. This simplification leads to reduced costs, risks, and development time. Additionally, this design can be reused for future Raspberry Pi models. As with most things in Raspberry Pi land, it is about saving money.

Actually it has one. And a spare ARM M3 controller. May be additional fun :)
From what I’ve read, yeah, it’s great that we have pcie but it’s slow. 😞
Will it run n64 and ps2 games smoothly?

N64 definitely. PS2 probably once the emulators are optimized for it.
It‘s a board for DIY Projekts, that means you can‘t replace a full pc experience with any raspberry pi. There‘s not many cases whe‘re you need so much power for Projekts. In most cases the Pi 3B is the best value for DIY. Most cheaper mini Pc‘s are better for retro gaming.

@mcklient6460 most mini pc's also draw 10 times the power and require active cooling while the pi5 can be powered of passive cooling with a chonky heatsink, the capabilities of the pi5 should not be underestimated.
no h264 decoding, this will consume some power on video playback

Yup that’s right (h.264 predates iPhone), but as @harleyn3089 pointed out they’ve got h.265

Love the introduction of the Pi 5. Just wish it wasn't shadowed by the lie pushed by raspberry in March of 2023 that stated they had a shortage of Pi4's because of supply disruptions. Clearly they stopped production of Pi4's to begin manufacturing of the Pi5's.
