Angelina Jordan Astar was born on January 10th, 2006, in Oslo, Norway. Her father Gerry Christian Slättman is a Petroleum Engineer and her mother Sara Astar is a housewife. Jordan grew up along with her younger sister, Juliette Slattman, who made her appearance in one of her music videos. She is of Japanese and Iranian descent on her mother’s side and has Swedish ancestry from her father’s side. In terms of education, Jordan went to Oslo Waldorf School in the Vestre Holmen area. Omer Bhatti, the young male judge in the video, has stayed friends with Angelina's family. Omer himself is a Norwegian rapper and dancer. He is also a very close friend to Michael Jackson's family as well. His mother was the caretaker of Jackson's youngest child, Blanket. He mentioned on an interview that on one particular visit, Omer showed some videos of Angelina to Michael's mother, Katherine, matriarch of the Jackson family. He said she was very impressed by Angelina....

I read a translation of an article in the Norwegian press about her decision at seven not to wear shoes. Apparently, Moma Sara bought cute shoes for her performance, and she told mom she would not wear shoes. She said her mom was stressed out about it. Notice in the video that mom is crying. Imagine if your seven year old was singing on television? Her relief must have been overwhelming. Sara said later she also realized that from that time forward she had to share her daughter with everyone. Sweet little Angelina had not a nervous bone in her body. She calmed everyone down. If you watch enough of her you will see that is her power over all of us.

Thank you guys for a great reaction we have all watched this performance so many times and every time I love it like the first time and it is always a joy to watch people discover AJ we have all come to love her like a member of our family for others to feel the same is a wonderful thing she has put her heart and soul into what she loves to do and that love imbues every sound and feeling that comes out of her, as one judge said you are music and now 10 years on that has been so true , she is completely unique I have never experienced any other artist that touches me like she does, nor any other artist with the versatility or the unique vocal abilities that she has there are so many subtleties and attention to details that are unmatched while many artists now all chase high notes as if it is some bench mark , AJ has a reverence for her art, she does what elevates the song and not herself, she is a beautiful old soul and a wonderful example of what has been forgotten. 💗👣

Not only did she "know what to do" with a microphone, she'd had more than 6 years of such experience at this point.😁 I'm sure you've been told about her very first "command performance" for Mom's camera at the age of 1½. She was singing into a real wireless karaoke mic. (And doing a damn fine job of it, too, if you ask me. Although, alas, she didn't actually sing very much of the song, because… you know… she was friggin' 1½.😄) I won't bother pointing you to that video right now, because I feel like you should be a little more familiar with her singing before you venture "all the way back" into the rabbit hole like that. Knowing how she was singing at, say, 10 to 12 makes what baby Angelina was doing even more impactful, IMO. BTW, I don't know about reincarnation, but if you're at all like me, the video of her singing at 1½ will definitely convince you that she was, in fact, born to sing.

This video I'm pointing you to contains her complete performance, and was originally posted to the website of the TV channel that aired the show. (For context, she is performing in front of the other solo singers in the competition. Singers who played their own instruments could do that in this round, but no other musical accompaniment was allowed, so contestants like Angelina who only sang had to do so a cappella. [Note that she was learning piano and probably guitar at the time, but was not yet good enough to accompany herself in a situation like this.] As a "Got Talent" show, it was open to contestants of all ages and all different kinds of talents.
