I played this song at my husbands funeral. This was the perfect song for I how I felt. We were together for 26 years. And the last 10 he was in kidney failure. His last days were emotional and very hard. He spent them in ICU his body so swollen he was almost unrecognizable. I never left him. In the last hours the doctor came in and told me he was brain dead. It was hard to hear, but at the same time a relief. Just two weeks before he had a serious talk with me. He knew his time was very limited and I knew his request and what he had told me he wanted and didn’t want. The one big thing was he did not want to be kept alive ( if you could have called it that ) on a machine. So I had to honor his request and let him go. That has been 8 years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday. Thank you so much for the words to this song and for it being sung with such emotion and feeling. It remains to mean the world to me.

@LindaKaspar. I know how you feel. My husband passed 3 days before Christmas. 2 yrs ago. He had covid pneumonia in both lungs, and even with 60L oxygen being forced into his lungs, he couldn't breathe. He went unconscious minutes after I got into his room. We barely had time to say a prayer & that we loved each other more than anything in the world. He went unconscious & I sat there 16 hrs holding his hand and talking to him. We were married for 29 years . I haven’t moved his things. His photos are all over the walls. He was disabled for years due to strokes. I took care of him. I would give anything just to have him back 1 more day. I loved him like the air I breathe. I wish God would have taken us together 😭💔

My song. I lost my cop husband Jim who was a cop for over 25 years. I think of him when I hear this song and I always cry. It means so much to me. This was mine and Jim's life for 35 years. Great marriage we would have done anything for each other. He was my soul mate and HERO. THANKYOU Rascal Flatts

My daughter died from cancer in 2011 from cancer. She was 32 with a 5 year old son. She died in my arms in my home. I sang this song to her for months before she passed but most certainly in the last 2 weeks she was in a coma and I lay in the bed with her. This song has meant the world to me and 10 years later, it still brings me to my knees.

I'm sorry for your loss I know how that feels I've been fighting a brain tumor since I was seven and I went to st. Jude's children's research hospital and saw so many kids with so many sicknesses and then some kids didn't even make it I saw some family's cry cause their kid passed away but the good thing about that hospital is they try to find a cure for everything pretty much I was seven when I started going and now I'm twenty eight but I had to stop going there a couple of years ago because it's a children's hospital and I'm not considered a child anymore

I love this song so much. When it first came out, 10 years ago, I was going through breast cancer treatment. I cried every time I heard it. Thankfully I’m still cancer free now. I haven’t heard it in a while. I listened to it tonight & sobbed again. I lost my husband, of 63 years, to Alzheimer’s last week. I was his caretaker for the last several years. This song brings out so many emotions & is sung so beautifully. Thank you for this beautiful song.

Its funny that you say that because this song is based on Bible scriptures! Rascal Flatts took verses from about 10-12 chapters and had them condensed down to fit into a 3 minute song.

My son is a recovering addict. I sent this to him when he relapsed. Letting him know we will always love him and support him. It's been a long journey, 6 years.. He is 8 months sober. This song gets me every time..

Such a powerful song. My girlfriend just had a quadruple bypass surgery and she hurts sooooo bad. And it's funny because I hold her, I walk her to the bathroom,I dry her eyes when she crys. She's always telling me to not let go of her, she's afraid of falling..I heard this song and cried like a baby..because I do this even before I heard this.. awesome song guys..thanks for making a grown ass man cry..

When I was 12 my mother was diagnosed with cancer. She fought it off for almost 3 years. She was tired, she needed a rest. I remember in the last few weeks of her life me and little brother started learning how to sing and play this song on guitar. When we played it for her she did not make a sound. At that point she was mostly gone, but I know she heard it. Through the song she had a slight smile on her face. She died a few days later. This song was played at her funereal. Thank you for writing such a beautiful song. I'm not really the kind of person you would see here but this song has helped me cope more than I think it did for my mother. Thank you.

This song played on my then fiancé satellite radio the night I got the news that my mom had passed of a heart attack. Literally at the time I got the call.. We had just left hospital hr before.. We headed right back down for the hr drive while I left my 6 month old son behind with his grandparents.. This song popped up on my phone at a time I was falling apart, exhausted and hurt deeply by myself and others. Tears running like a raging river. It felt like a message from God in song...and what a beautiful love song from God himself!

This song came out just after I had my son. He was delivered a month early and trached at birth. This song pulled us through one of the hardest times in my life. And still today 9 years later my son and I will dance to this song no matter where we are if it comes on. Thank you for this beautiful gift.

My sister just got diagnosed with lung cancer and these words are what I want to say but this song is helping us both its 2024 and this song still helps thanks for saying what big sister wants to say to little sister when you don't know what to say

I listened to this song a million times when I was going through cancer treatments the same year the song was released. It helped me, and I hope it helps others as well, no matter what kind of battle you’re fighting. ❤️

I love this song. I was in the darkness moment and thought there was no one in this world to love me. But I knew God and Jesus was with me and still with me. And I believe in God and Jesus even if life wasn't good for me. Long as God and Jesus you believe in your heart and know you don't need anyone but God and Jesus forever.

No doubt about that! This song is powerful and hits the heart with a lot of force. This song was actually based on about 10 - 12 chapters of the bible. The verses were condensed down to fit into a song and the rest is history.

I commented on here before,not too long ago-now,I'm here to say this song is very powerful,because I had to pull off the side of the interstate because I couldn't see to drive!!!! I lost my momma last Thursday,and her passing has ripped my heart to shreds!!!! I use to sing to her,when she was well and she loved it-never got to sing this one though!!!! My momma was my best friend,we had such a good relationship and I don't know what I'm gonna do-a catch myself crying at the drop of a hat,it's been 7 days and it already feels like an eternity!!!! This is a pain I've never felt,and I don't see it going anywhere soon! There may be no turning back from this for me!!! I guess only time will tell- I love you so much momma and already miss you tremendously!!!!

On so so sorry To hear the bad news. Nothing i say Will be comforting or Will make à difference. Alls i can say is my MOM is in thé room next To mine reading n getting ready 4 bed she goes home in. Bout 4 weeks 3000 + mi. Away. And i already miss thé help out of Her i and my brother dont kno if this is the last tome we'll ses her or not. She's 83 and probable wont ne table to travel anymore. Thé thought of Her leaving this world any time soon or at all while im alive kills me cause everything good that i am or have in me is from Her and i fear when She goes si Will all the good in me and ill wanna go too. I'd give anything if my son loved me. Your mom knew how much you loved her. I'm 78 and at moments I miss my mom so much. We were blessed to have such loving moms. Blessings. Psalm 91 helps me so much ❤️

10 years ago, my sweet mother was dying from brain cancer. This song helped me get through it. Tomorrow is the 10th anniversary of her passing, this song still brings tears to my eyes.

i am so sorry for your loss my heart breaks for you i have been with my partner 7 years i nearly lost him to phneumonia and a coma and i thought it was the end of the world im only 36 i can never imagine how you felt that day i have lost three children so i know heartbreak they was babies but you meet a stranger fall inlove with them trust them together all your life then one day they go to heaven is a whole nother level of heartbreak i hope you find peace somewhere love and light

My brother was VERY close to death from COVID....we played this song often while he was in the ICU. I told him it was "our song". He lived but his lungs are so damaged there is little he can do now...he's depressed and sad, so I play this song to remind him I am always there and HE WILL MAKE IT! I am so very sorry for your loss from this awful virus....

I’m a widow, senior citizen and a parent of a severely handicapped son, 38 years ago who has cerebral palsy, multiple mental retardation, quadriplegic and nonverbal. I tried putting him in a home but he couldn’t survive there. I don’t know what’s going to happen when I’m gone. I love this song that reminds me every time of his care and requirements 😢trusting in the Lord totally

I’m going to dance to this song with my son whenever I get married. Its going to be our “mommy and son dance” It’s always been just me and my son. He’s 6 and he is my everything. My world. Mommy will always love you Noah, and I will always stand by you.

My Mom battled Triple Negative Breast Cancer for 10 months, and ultimately lost her battle October 23, 2011. This song reminds me of her battle and courage each and every time I hear it. My family has been torn apart through the grief and loss of my Mother, and I can only imagine how that would make her feel to know this....but she's in heaven and is new again, feeling no more pain.....RIP Mom...I'm so proud of you!!!!!
