Thanks so much to Vikings: Clash of Clans for supporting our work at the museum! I was so happy to finally get to do some work on this Alcosa forge! Sorry to turn this restoration into a two-parter, but that's just the way it works out sometimes! Look for part two to be released withing the next week! I can't wait for you guys to see how the new paint complements the antique patina!
Help support the restoration of the museum!

Justin You have inspired me to drive up to Pietermaritzburg in kwa Zulu Natal Province South Africa ( 5 hours return) in crazy traffic with a truckers strike in force, just to collect my British Alcosa model 7006 Blower in mint condition. your videos really inspire me. God Bless you Sir.
Thank you for preserving an historic artifact.

There is nothing more satisfying than bringing something old back to life, keep up the great work on your channel
That came apart really well, broken bolts and all! Those gears are amazingly pristine, looks like it was well cared for!
I hate to say but I think somebody is a lot happier taking over the blacksmith shop. Looks good should come in real handy. Keep up the great video's
Justin, that is an awesome forge and blower. I would keep the patina and spray clear over that. You can always paint it but it would take 50 years to get a finish like it is now. Great job. Thanks for sharing!
I just found this channel now I am addicted and love the work ya'll do.
Make sure you chase the threads to get the rust out of the bolt holes, learned that the hard way. We have a working 1830s village up here in NJ run by the state, Allaire State Park. I have fond memories in the carpenters shop when I was 10-12 years old. What you do at the old mill reminds me a lot of Allaire.
It's nice to have the tools you need to get the job done. Good job with the restoration and taking out the screw at the end.
Left hand drill bits are great for removing broken bolts. Some times the bit will grab and pull the bolt stub out without any additional work.
Very interesting tool restoration video. Looking forward to part two.
Pretty sweet forge it looks in awesome shape. Thanks justin
Justin, you are lucky I enjoy your video's so much... I can't believe this is getting split into 2 parts... hurry up with the second part, I am chomping at the bit to see how this comes out!!!
Love it, can't wait to see this all finished and done.
That is a very well made forge, those splines are work's of art, can't wait for the second part and see what it looked like when it was brand new, definatley gets my thumbs up
Awesome job Justin! I can take things a part, putting back together I don't know! You did great!
Great Video, I can't wait to see it done and in use.
Just for some information for you your cold forge was made around 1800- 1900 in a town called Stourport on Severn in Worcestershire the town does exist still and so does the County I was born in Kidderminster but lived in Stourport on Severn for a few years Stourport has the river Severn that's why it's call Town upon the Severn I now live in Worcester, Worcestershire I love your work and I'm proud of you you've restored a piece of pre- Industrial revolution machinery from a town in once lived in I'm so happy avd stunned by the work you do and have done to bring back to life machinery that can live a thousand years I'd need better quality than most today's tools avd machinery I'd love to cone over there and thankyou in person the work you've done especially on that forge xxxx

You're completely off with the date as alldays and onions didn't make there "alcosa" line until 1937. www.gracesguide.co.uk/William_Allday_and_Co Thats a link to prove the date.
On occasion you can still see these on the railways by the old concrete maintenance gang huts. I nearly had one some years ago. One of my mates worked on the railway and they were chucking out a lot of stuff on a large junction in South London that was being altered, the hut was being demolished, he put it in his pickup for me but overnight someone stole it.
Awesome work, looking forward to seeing a finished forge. Keep it up Justin. Much love from Oklahoma.
Love the restoration videos -- can't wait for the next part!
Get some left-hand twist drill bits. They will sometimes take a broken bolt right out without even using an EZout.
Loved the vid! Very informative! And the Viking Game sounds fun.
so cool!!!! Looking forward to more of these videos!!!
Wonderful video as always and love the bagpipes 👍🏻

next time you do something like this try using paint thinner to take of all of the grees
I like the hack with the file in the hole you drilled in the broken bolt, I gota sat thumbs up on that.
I'm learning a lot from your videos. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with others thorugh your You Tube channel.
As always, very interesting. I've enjoyed your channel. Keep it up!
The days before all these commercials were awesome. KZread used to be so great. Seriously, I don't have cable for this reason. Can't eliminate them on my phone that I know of.
That might look good in a nice dark red, maybe with some black pinstripes
Really enjoyed this. Don't worry about the hood, those scratches will just buff right out with a little T Cut.
At the end of the video you are drilling out a broken bolt. Our welder at work will lay a washer on that bolt then a nut and welder the bolt to the nut. It works great.
You could use some canning wax on the bolts when they are cherry red the wax gets into the threads.
Looking good
Here's a tip for you.... 50/50 mix of acetone and transmission fluid. Best rust penetrator/frozen bolt breaker that I have found

Loving restore vids brother
Enjoy your content. Keep it up!
My grandfather was born in the late 1800's, and was a blacksmith for many years, one of 3 men who first welded magnesium in the 1940's. In his younger days he made a full set of blacksmith tools from stainless steel. The anvil was about 3" long, it was a beautiful set, carved wooden handles for the hammers and all. After his death the set was donated to the Smithsonian.
What a great way to end this video!!!
good job
Love it brother.
I wish I had a forge.
It is great to see old tools brought back to life. I hope you find a new sponsor because I wanted to skip past the ad on this video. Keep up the great work. I wish you well with everything in the future.

With KZread demonetizing everyone I'm just glad Justin has a sponsor, period. Not my cup of tea either but what the hell, it's helping Justin put videos out.
AWESOME
Nice!
Great man.
nice little save at the end there... wondered if it was gonna wind out just with the drill : ]

Looks great hope to see many projects be built in the forge and were did you get those bolt extractors those Re sweet
Man I need to get me a car hood workbench!
Can't wait to see it get done!! Looks great so far... are you going to use the gas starter????
I was realllllly hoping to see the original paint left on
Красавец, не оторваться? 😱
I can see you really want to take the job at the museum. Ask the town counsel to take a one percent cut in pay to increase you pay. Maybe that would make it you could live on the wage. Also ask of they can provide a vehicle and or fuel to off set your costs.
nice car table :-D
You rock!!!
I wish someone would use laser rust remover on some old tools like this just to see how it goes, i know its expensive bu it would be awesome to see it
I really enjoy these videos. Was that a left handed drill bit in the end card where you were removing the busted bolt? I've had great success with left handed drill bits for removing busted bolts on motorcycles. Again, great videos. Cheers from Tokyo Japan!
Cool. I have an old buffalo forge blower I need to clean up. It leaks oil but runs ok. I am a little uncertain about fixing it up vs leaving it alone

FIXIT!!
I don't know what kind of penetrating oil you are using but we use Kroil oil at work and it works faster and better than anything else we have short of using a hot wrench.
So is there a story behind it? Sometimes there is a good story of who had it ,how you got it, those kind of things. Oh yah and I am jealous. Been looking for one around Chicago area. The few that pop up you would think it was made of gold🙄 thanks for sharing.

Ok, I see that sounds a little weird. You should make it look like it is brand new.
And still made today.
Congratulations on the sponsor! ETA: Can you do a review on that specialty "easy-out"? ;o)
Some of the bolt heads could be BSW British Standard Whitworth , AF spanners will not fit them in a thousand years all depends on how old the forge is. Nice job .

+Pete Froud They are Whitworth. Gotta get me a set of wrenches!
love the intro music! BAGPIPES are awesome . ps what did you decide?
Don't you touch that patina! Neat trick at the end btw.
hope you keep some of that patina........ clearcoat dont paint it my feeling is it shows the heritage of the piece much better than a clinical restoration/repaint but its just a personal view love your enthusiasm for the past
Great video, who red hood was that?
Take a sample of the paint color, whether it be a chip of paint or a piece of the forge that still has the color on it, to Home Depot and they will be able to make the paint for you. Easy.
Restoring a British tool and using Scottish bagpipes. Nice.

Just use a good Clear lacker high temp if they do one
like for the music
Built when Britain was known for good solid machinery.
You know your going to get thumbs down on this video from some of these environmental people because of how you put those gears ( to wash them off ) over the drain, but for me if I had more then two thumbs I would give you more, thanks for your time to show us how to restore older tools. Larry

Right, in California you can get arrested for letting oil go down the drain. Use a bucket.
I wish I could hammer that fast
@beepboop69420

i'm making a reciprocation attachment for my drill and i might just make a housing to reverse the gearbox on another drill i took apart (cause it was broken) and make it even faster and use the torque from the drill that actually drives it to actually force a blow. i am close to finishing it actually. just need to make the hammer and shaft attachment to change the kinda figure 8 motion to linear motion and it'll work i think.
Looks like it going to be painted
Yo tengo una. Necesito restaurarla. Como puedo enviar fotos???
I have to call you on washing the grease off the parts to that drain hole... Everything goes out into the sea! No good, man.
Looked like glyptal coating on the inside of the fan box. Not sure but it aids in oil drainanage on engines. Keep the patina on what you can. 😎

+Dave Phillips That's the plan. Thanks Dave!
Where did you find the forge?
pretty good until you pressure washed greasy parts over the storm drain
Wow good job. Don't paint it thats good looking machine the older look yea leave it. But think it may look good green or grey. Or bright red. Lol. But wow them gears do look good. Can't weight to see you use the forage. Thanks for sharing this god bless
Loved the gas jump starter but am not a fan of the clinker removal capability.
Wasn't a fan on that Lock tight but hey it's yours awesome trick on the paint to bad you didn't shot it in action
Is their such a thing as a processes nation?
Thumbs up liked !
Agradecería ! Sí los comentarios se evitan ?ya que hay hispanos que no hablamos inglés . Ok 😖
No worries, you spent time with kids showing and teaching them, now that worth more then anything else. Make many parts to this video as needed.
