Train Details:
Right on first light, Pacific National Intermodal 7MP7 passes through Murtoa, making a sharp left turn towards Horsham with locomotives NR81/NR105/8121. The service operates across the country from Melbourne to Perth.
Operating past the unused silos at Moorton Plains, Pacific National General Freight 7901V operates to Merbein near Mildura in the northwest corner of Victoria. Locomotives 8130 & 8152 operate the service.
Powering past Jung Silos with twin NRs of 99 & 55 on the lead, Pacific National Superfreighter 4PM6 is bound for Melbourne, operating across the country from Perth.
Five locomotives on the lead are about to become four on SCT Intermodal 2PM9, with the service dropping CSR005 at Dooen, only a couple of kilometres away. The service, which currently operates with CSR017/CSR005/CSR024/CSR015/SCT013, powers away from Horsham after a crew change. The service is seen again at Langi Logan, with just the four engines on the front later in the day.
Aurizon Intermodal 7MP1 powers away from Taytoon after a cross with 5PM9. Hauled by ACD6054/ACD6053 on the front, the service is also joined by G535 in the middle, not powering and only required for shuttles into Victoria Dock.
A rare run west for Southern Shorthaul Railroad is seen near Ararat with Railfirst engines EL57/EL62/VL354. This empty service is bound for Marmalake near Murtoa for loading at the Graincorp site.

The vision is very professional. A great job of nicely composed videos. It’s just let down by poor spelling and grammar in the text. A quick double check of location names and full stops would make it a a very professional presentation.

Sorry, another question: Is that G in the middle run as a DPU? Is there an engineer (driver) on board? Or is it dead headed until it gets to the terminal? Thanks again.

No worries at all mate! Please do ask questions. That G in the middle isn’t powering, and is just at idle for the trip to Adelaide. It’s only used when the train is split into two sections for unloading and loading in Melbourne. Matt - M&S Trains

Were the 81 class an upgrade of the 80? Were there plans to continue the series, with an 82, 83, et cetera? Wiki tells me that the 82 were supposed to be the 94 class, which really has be wondering now. Thanks. And thanks for another video.

80’s & 81s are completely different types of engines so definitely no upgrade. 80s are Alcos with 81s EMDs and each class had very different tasks in there early days of ops. Interesting to hear about the 82s meant to be the 94s. Funnily enough they’re building new locomotives which will run will be classed the 94s here in Australia now. Pacific National has 50 on order I believe to replace ANs and some of the ageing NRs. Matt - M&S Trains

@@MS_TrainsI believe it’s 52, some additional ones where placed on to the order to replace the two NRs that where involved in the New Year’s Eve reck, the 94s will replace the ANs and then displace 81s & Gs

During the construction of the 82 class, yes they were suppose to be come the 94 class but it was changed at the last minute due to the fact they wanted to keep the 94 class classification for a higher horsepower unit. I believe that was the reasoning for the change of class number.
