Rare sight in the yard. Glass House 1976 Caprice Landau Donk Junkyard Find

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Rare sight in the yard. 1976 Caprice Classic Landau Junkyard Find. Ive run across the 4 door variety but never a 2 door Glass house Donk in the yards. Well at least since I've been making KZread videos. These are highly sought after by the big wheel guys as well as the Lowriders. And if I'm not mistaken not much is even reproduced, making parts cars like this sought after as well. I think most of the sheet metal will be gone before the week is out. im sure this one will probably be picked pretty good before they end up crushing her. I took the rear sway bar and the head light bezels. Someone beat me to the grill, the tail lights and the steering column. Everything else was pretty much all there.

Whoa Nelley, 1976 and it hit the bricks..... Yes, last year for the "big" body style, 1977 would be a downsized model (and sold very well). Yes, OER and others offer replacement quarter panels. Same part for 1974 to 1976 two door Caprice models. We got the VIN, we win: 1 for Chevrolet, N for Caprice Classic, 47 for two-door, V for 350 V8 with two barrel, 6 for 1976 model year, J for Janesville, WI assembly and the rest is the production sequence. Correct, last year for V.I.R. (Valves-In-Receiver) system. Back then, Frigidaire was part of GM and was through 1979 when it was sold. Yes, the intake and carburetor were likely swapped over from something else. We'd need to see the numbers on the engine pad to determine if it's the original engine. If so, the partial VIN appears as such: 16J123456 where 1 is Chevrolet, 6 is 1976, J is Janesville, WI assembly and the last six should match the dash VIN's last six if it's the original engine. The Janesville plant built a lot of vehicles including medium duty trucks up until the time it closed. It opened in 1919 and closed in 2008, being defunct by 2009. The last vehicle built there was a 2009 black Chevrolet Tahoe which was donated to North Rock County's United Way and raffled off. We got the tag, we can brag: ST76 for 1976 model year, 1BN47 for two door Caprice Classic, J for Janesville, WI assembly, 19D for black cloth interior trim, A52 for bench front seat, 19U and 19L for Tuxedo Black upper and lower exterior paint, 05C for the third week of May 1976 production. Whoa Nelley, the "donk" is missing a few chonks. Tuxedo Black and soon to be flat. VIN code "V", it's over for thee. 3-5-0 and gotta go. Going to be flat and that's that. Made in WI and going bye-bye. From the land of cheese, it's been brought to its knees. That's it, time to quit. Going to get squished and the "large barge" faithful and bowtie fans are going to be pretty pissed.

That engine is most likely a replacement or a swapped in used engine because the dipstick is on the wrong side, pre 79 has drivers side oil dipstick and 79 and up had passenger side dipstick, some Goodwrench and aftermarket replacement engines have the provision for both.

I had a 1969 Hurst Olds 455 Cutlass in 1998 and I had 3 of those same big white bullhorns (painted mine black though) on my alarm on that car plus the factory horn would blow at the same time so it was super loud. What I like about the Caprice is that the front end reminds me of a AMC Matador with the center grille sticking out like a bull's nose. Nice very nice:-) Although this car is not a "Glasshouse". The glass house even came in a few 2 door Box Chevys. The rear window is shaped with 2 corners 1 on each side of the rear window about 12" from the quarter panels. Resembling the roof of a house. May I ask where this beautiful piece of Detroit steel is located. And does it have any paperwork with it? I absolutely would be interested in buying it... I love the Impala. But the Caprice as far as I'm concerned. Are the Tits!!! If you give me a brand new exotic. I would sell it and buy me a Donk or Box. Ain't nothing like ridin Old School Chevy. Swervin and Pervin. Hahaha we outchea. Dirty South Chevy Boyz! By way of North Central Florida where real recognize real.. Halla!

Most of them have had their titles turned into the state, so it's going to very difficult to buy them whole and get them titled again for the road.

@@googleusergp I have done it in the past, the vehicle needs to pass a inspection by the state patrol. Of course, that was back in 1983. I don't know if you still can, but it doesn't hurt to ask. I had a 69 Oldsmobile 98 from New Mexico. I bought it from a garage, I covered the cost of the tow, then I had to do a title search 😅 I bought it for 150, the search was 400. I had the paperwork from the dealership, all of the owners too. There was only 2, before I bought it. No rust on it anywhere 😊

@@normanhopfensperger4343 Like I said, it's difficult (I did not say it was impossible). In TX, the vehicle's title goes to the state and it's considered junk. Some vehicles can be put back on the road even if they were junked. It all depends. TX does not make it easy. The '77 Firebird that Benny featured recently has a bonded TX title that takes a couple of years to "clear" out.

Let me just start by saying this. I sure hope the person that dumped this 1976 Caprice Classic at this yunk yard reads what I have to say. You probably got anywhere around $500 to $1k for this Caprice at Pick N Pull. If you would of held on to it and posted it for sale in Craigslist or Offerup or any other selling site right now in 2024 you probably would have sold it for at least $10k to $15k. People like myself are always hunting down complete solid Caprice Classics (Glass House) like these. I'm saddened to watch this video. 😢

Hello, I’m not sure where the car is I’m at work haven’t watched video yet but wanted to see if u could get me the front bumper or the whole car? I’d give 1500 for the car if we could get a title, prolly give that without title too. But I’d give 250 for that bumper. If u think we can work something out let me know I’ll send u contact info. Thanks so much for any help I really would like to save it or if nothing else use it for parts for mine

Classic Ride Society I also figured I’d ask you if you ever find 71 to 76 gm full-size wagon I’ll pay you a finders fee. Those wagons are selling for 2 to 4 grand up here as a shell or complete project car, and the drivers are a lot more. So if you find any I will be glad to buy them. Thanks so much and if u end up pulling that bumper message me and I can send u my number so we could set up shipping and payment.
