What is the overall survival rate for low grade serous ovarian cancer? Mom was diagnosed after her second biopsy, they did debulking surgery prior to her 2nd biopsy. She just finished her 6 cycles chemo. Waiting for her PET scan result. She’s 66 y/o.

Hello Lorelei, thank you for reaching out. Here's the response we received from Dr. Gershenson..."The median overall survival for women with stage II-IV low-grade serous carcinoma is in the range of 90-100 months. It tends to vary a little from one study to another".

Thank you for the reply, I just read it. Mom did a couple of Pet scan, the recent result showed something light up in her sigmoid colon, she has an ileostomy. She was put on anastrozole. Then after a month, they did another CT scan, found a tumor in between her bladder and vagina, she still continues to bleed but less now. Her doctor changed her anastrozole to megace. He said it’s complicated to do another debulking surgery because of the nearest organs and some sandpaper like on top of her liver. Will another chemotherapy benefit her? They are considering radiation also. Waiting for Tumor Board. Any recommendations? Thanks
