Rare Nepali Sherpa food in Kathmandu, Nepal🇳🇵
Have you ever wondered what cloud ☁️ taste like??? We tried RILDOK for the first time and it was so fluffy, it was as though you were eating a cloud. We met up with two lovely locals @ParisMeetsKathmandu and without them we probably would pf never found this place, they took us on a traditional Tibetan food tour and honestly I think it's fair to say we found the best sherpa kitchen in the heart of Kathmandu🇳🇵
Trying Sherpa food in Kathmandu, Nepal is a delightful culinary experience that offers a unique taste of the Sherpa culture and cuisine. The Sherpas are an ethnic group from the Himalayan region, known for their expertise in mountaineering and their traditional way of life.
Sherpa cuisine reflects their mountainous environment and the need for hearty, nourishing meals. Here's a description of what you can expect when trying Sherpa food in Kathmandu:
Traditional Sherpa Dishes: Sherpa cuisine primarily revolves around wholesome ingredients like grains, vegetables, dairy products, and meat. You'll find dishes such as Dal Bhat (lentil soup with rice), Gundruk (fermented leafy greens), Thukpa (noodle soup), and Phalay (Sherpa-style bread) being popular choices.
Momos: Sherpa-style momos are a must-try delicacy in Kathmandu. These steamed or fried dumplings are usually filled with minced meat (such as yak, chicken, or pork), along with finely chopped vegetables and a blend of aromatic spices. Momos are often served with spicy tomato-based chutney or a tangy dipping sauce.
Yak Meat Specialties: The Sherpa people have a long history of raising yaks, which are well-adapted to the high-altitude regions. Yak meat features prominently in their cuisine. Look out for dishes like Yak Curry, Yak Stew, or Yak Sizzler, where the meat is cooked with local herbs and spices, resulting in rich and flavorsome preparations.
Sherpa Drinks: To complement your meal, Sherpa beverages are worth exploring. You can try Sherpa Butter Tea, a warm and energizing drink made with tea leaves, yak butter, salt, and milk. Another popular choice is Tongba, a fermented millet-based drink served in a wooden container called a "doko" and sipped through a bamboo straw.
Sherpa Hospitality: When dining at a Sherpa restaurant in Kathmandu, you can expect warm and welcoming hospitality. The Sherpa people are known for their friendliness and genuine hospitality, making your experience all the more enjoyable.
As you savor Sherpa cuisine in Kathmandu, you'll not only indulge in delicious flavors but also gain a deeper appreciation for the Sherpa culture and their way of life in the Himalayas.

Namaste and Salam guys'... Welcome to Nepal and thanks for exploring. We the "Mongoloid" people of Nepal represent unique culture and the history. Most of our tribes have our own native languages, food and culture. Most of Mongoloid tribes are heavily influenced by Buddhism as you can see . Most of our tribesmen are popular and well known mountaineers and soldiers around the world. The best of the best. Travel safe and love for your kid. Sukriya...

Timur (Szechuan Pepper) or timut pepper or red pepper. It's preferred in China too. Very good medicine for high altitude sickness Though it looks similar to black pepper It has nothing to do with black pepper.
