Truck mounted Gradalls used to be rather common. My dad liked using them. That was before V-buckets became common for excavators, and you could really bevel a trench with a Gradall back then.

Gradall are very common around Boston area although truck mounted are fading out. That’s a “slab” bucket

Cool, thanks for naming the bucket for me. The Gradall is really rare here in the Chicago area. They seem like versatile machines though.

A Gradall!! The only time I've seen those buckets is with the Swiss companies that use them on 90t machines to tear up tram rails along with the concrete bed. That's a very strong and well-built attachment!

It's really rare to see a Gradall being used these days, it was even better because of that attachment.

I don't think I've ever seen one in the metal! Not even at trade shows.

Never seen such a weird mix of an excavator and a Crane Truck, we don't have these in France. And by the way, your curbs are not for joking, WTF !!!

  • @ConstructionMachineryChannel

The curbs here are thick and deep into the ground. Near Chicago this is how most curbs are because it gets very cold in winter and the ground freezes deep. By making the curb deeper into the ground it prevents the curb from moving around when the ground heats up and is no loger frozen.

@@ConstructionMachineryChannel Thank you for that clarification, indeed it makes sense. In some old neighborhoods of many cities in France, you can still see granite curbs, big fat "monsters" of 150 kg each ! But today all that is old history, we lay only concrete curbs !

Seems like the operator's cab is on the wrong side of the boom in that application forcing it to pull at an angle.
