Her childhood was traumatic. She had abandonment issues. She already had an eating disorder. She was a mess, but so young her problems weren’t obvious yet because such young women aren’t assertive enough to make life as difficult as a more mature woman who have more life experience under their belt. She became a nightmare.

The Windsor name is relatively young but Charles and Diana are 16th cousins who descend through legal marriages and royal mistresses. The Spencers have also tacked their heritage onto the older Norman DeSpenser family (borrowed some aspects of the DeSpenser coat of arms) despite not being granted the right to use them.

@@gnostic268The Spencers were glorified sheep farmers. "Glorified" by female members of the family being Royal Mistresses of Charles II and giving birth to his bastards. Diana was descended from not one, but two illegitimate children of King Charles II of England: Henry Fitzroy and Charles Lennox, via two of her great-grandmothers, Adelaide Seymour and Rosalind Bingham. Queen Camilla shares this same lineage, for those who love to put Diana on a pedestal, while looking down their noses at Queen Camilla.

Diana said that she picked out her engagement ring. Charles has said he picked out the ring. Sources report the Queen picked it out from five options brought to her to choose from. Is it pure coincidence that Fergie's ring looked so identical?? I believe the Queen picked it out. She's a control freak. That both Charles and Diana claim to have shopped for it is most likely a romantic tale they were encouraged to tell.

Catalogue ring?! Are you on glue? The ring was chosen by the couple together at the Royal's go to jeweller, Garrards of London. It had been featured once, in a 1 off advertising promo: a limited edition bound 'book' of their jewellery. That level of jewellers did NOT do catalogues & visits are by appointment only.. According to her Butler's book, Diana told friends she got overwhelmed when choosing, panicked & then just chose the one with the biggest centre stone: which Charles ok'd saying the blue Ceylon sapphire matched her eyes . It was estimated to have cost £35k & is worth £500k today.

Oh you people same old nonsense! He had to marry a virgin - not a lot of those around these days: He had to have healthy male heirs- all these are royal family rules. The Queen has to give permission when the heir to the throne marries - He obviously didn’t want to go through with it- but the Royal Line takes precedence over any personal needs. He has been so badly treated by people who don’t understand the constraints he was under. Look at the hundreds of young people he has helped with The Princes Trust. Wanting to be the Defender of FaithS says a lot about him. Small wonder he is ill- he’s had to shoulder so much from an ill informed public ready to take sides against a woman he has loved for over 30 years because of the attractive younger woman he was forced to marry to ensure a healthy succession. He had no legal obligation to accompany Diana’s coffin from France- but he went. He walked Megan up the aisle rather than her being alone. He is a decent sensitive caring man. I know him. And the misunderstanding he has had to put up with is very sad indeed.

Were you young then? Were you even alive then? You may not be aware, but for years in the 1970s Charles and every girl he dated were hounded by the press. Hounded. He couldn't date ANYONE without the press of Fleet Street going after his new love and digging into whatever "past" she had. Girl after girl fell at this hurdle. They were swamped - and ex-boyfriends and/or lovers triumphantly exposed - quite often on a Sunday morning when the breakfast Sunday tabloids hit the mat. Front page - and often pages of it. Diana was that crock of gold at the end of the rainbow for them - a "virgin without a past". From the moment he met her the press went wild for her. The RF, especially, apparently, the Duke of Edinburgh - weary of the Groundhog-Day farce of his love life - pushed for a decision and more or less forced his hand. For her part no one in her family had the wisdom to advise the couple to slow down - give themselves time to decide if they really were a match. Instead it was full-steam-ahead and they were even hurried along. The outcome of course, everybody knows. Both of them were railroaded by their families to please a public who wanted marriage for Charles - and a virgin bride. An 18 month relationship - or even an engagement - could have disintegrated without a scandal had they only been allowed to test-drive it before they walked up the aisle.

Why did Charles have to follow rules that his mother's family did not have to follow? If he married the very young Diana and so much pressure was placed upon her, Charles should have taken better care of her instead of expecting her to all of a sudden be able to handle not being loved and also being the most famous woman in the world. Read the book Diana herself collaborated with about her childhood and marriage…..in which she outed her own father as one of the 2 most violent misogynistic bullies in British Aristocracy….Lady C , the author was married to the 2nd , a friend of the Earl ………So , in said book , when Lady C refused to write what SHE knew to be untruths about Charles ….Diana went to Andrew Morton to write “ Her True Story” ……… I remember cruel headlines after their honeymoon saying she was a bit chubby and dressed like a granny …….Camilla was never a 3rd wheel in their marriage from day 1 like she said in that book ….Charles tried to make it work , Charlotte , he was separated from his true love by machinating grandmothers who wanted a Spencer girl …ANY Spencer girl for him !!! He was brought up by his grandmother and SHE influenced him and he was heartbroken, not weak willed and he knew his duty ……what would you do in his place ? I am sick and tired of the flak our King and Queen get from this and Duchess Disgusting is determined to bring all this out , so I dare you , Charlotte , read the book published almost 25 years ago and understand what made Diana grow into the woman that had 6 affairs , clearly desperate for love , damaged , manipulative, emotional and mentally challenged enough to leave the safety of the Ritz and shoot off at high speed NOT wearing a seatbelt!!!!!!!! The lost weight and the adoration from press and people went straight to her head ……don’t get me wrong here , her childhood must have been awful but knowing what we know now about childhood trauma and the adult psyche that follows that ……William and Catherine’s passion for mental health and early childhood development, SCREAMS to me that they have read that book and possibly even saw evidence from Lady C of Diana’s true involvement in it !? So has The King and Queen….they chose to protect Diana’s memory, they could easily have brought all this front and center to clear themselves etc but they didn’t , they took abuse after abuse , to maybe protect the boys as well ….whatever ……ENOUGH .

They used her pedegree period,...Diana courageously made it a point to let the people of the country she had pledged her entire life &, her childrens lives to....., for justice to the monumental injustice she was facing. ..In typical historical British monarchial justice ..They just crowned the mistress instead.. , look at the catastrophic consequences on her heir and spare..25 years later by this action,.Unforgivable indeed

Pedigree. The Spencers were glorified sheep farmers. Althorp was in the red when Prince Charles married dim Diana. Of course, her family kept her mental instability quiet.

Diana did not do well in school. Her only reading was love novels and she thought Charles was the Prince from one of books. Charles was a mature intelligent man who was dedicated to his work. Read Lady Colin Campbell's book "The Real Diana". An honest look at Diana's life.

Diana's engagement ring was designed by Charles. Diana had a 2nd dress, which she wore after lunch & photographs. That is standard here. The gowns worn for the church are not suitable for dancing and moving freely.
