Maybe we'll perhaps get a fanmade/homebrew version of this game one day, via the Beats Of Rage engine, or something like that? Would be better than nothing at the very least.

This game looks so fun! If it had been released, it certainly would have been one of the biggest drawing arcade games of 1996. It's repetitive like all beat em ups were, but it captures so much about the show that it rivals Konami's licensed arcade games. I particularly like all the various voice clips. Also, it looks to me like the game was complete and even had an actual ending (which prototypes don't) but Atari decided to scrap it at the last minute.

Common, take a look at "hercules" on the ps1. It is a nice little generic beat em up long after the golden age of arcade that intigrated a little semi 3d scaling, with a fantastic artstyle if you are a bnb fan.

i'd be nice if someone could upload it to the internet as a rom and release it

It'd be nice to see a port on Xbox Live / Playstation Network.

the galloping ghost arcade in Brookfield IL has a playable machine of this just added recently. according them, 12 prototype machines were made. theirs was sold at an mtv auction in the late 90's to some private collecter or something. Also, i take it that this machine is close to a twilight zone pinball, as i have heard the slot machine eject sound multiple times in the background.

This looks awesome, too bad it was never completed, it could have been a blast if it was ever available. And we also need a Beavis and Butthead pinball machine as well, imagine how much fun that can be if it was developed right, maybe stern can do it. :-)

I agree.

I would be a fan of it being dumped and released to the general public. Although, we cant play arcade games on real hardware and emulators yet! There is no "insert coin" button on the 3do system, so the games run but you cant play them.

Not only that, it's processor is twice as fast and uses more ram and rom than the original 3D0. So it's like a custom 3D0.

Well there’s some buttons that go unused for the main control scheme. My guess is the other 3 buttons are used for “arcade” functions.

Honestly, this looks better than the Sega and Snes BandB games..

I agree. The Snes version is definitely worse than the Sega version.

sad that kids today will never get to experience things like this. there nothing better then going to the arcade with a truck load of quarters and hanging out with strangers. trying to beat everyones high scores.

I would like see this game on the PS1.

almost as if Beavis and butthead was talking so much shit about the 60s and once they went through it they went back to their couch without a word to say because they knew it was a hard trip..lol

It seems reasonable to not release the only Beavis and Butthead game that looks good and fun.

I think this used the 3DO M2 CPU that never materialized as a consumer product.

This used the original 3DO console hardware, albeit heavily modified with additional memory, etc.

Wow never knew this existed cool stuff i woulda put some quarters down back in the day to play it i was a big fan of beavis and butthead when i was 12yrs old

Would have been a great addition to it's console and PC games.

the graphics are awesome a shame this was never released

in 20 years of its existence I have never seen this game... wow...

This would have been a cool game to have on the PlayStation 1.

I'm very surprised this didn't make it. from the looks of the game. It looks like it would have been a definite hit in the arcades. I'm guessing from the cabinet and graphics this definitely looks like it would have been a Konami release.

Galloping Ghost had trouble getting this game to work so i doubt it will ever come to PC because of the confusing 3DO hardware maybe one day it will come to 3DO

Why won't the owner release this for MAME use? The show is so old that it's being relaunched on MTV and this game STILL isn't available.

Ok this needs to be finished and released. Some minor easy spots need fixing but that looks cool.

is this another build? i just saw another gameplay with a different stage order with the casino as the first stage (although it gets slapped with the "COMING SOON" label later on for some reason).

Wait, this is for Atari?? Did the game ever release on Atari?? Cause i played all beavis and butthead games exept Virtual Stupidity and this one. The reason i never got to play Virtual Stupidity is because i dont play games on my laptop often and it was only released for PS1 in Japan :(

Looks far superior to the Snes/Genesis versions. Although the PC adventure version was'nt too bad. I have both of them.

Yeah I enjoyed the Genesis version at the time but Virtual Stupidity on the PC was the closest to the cartoon and very well done. Check it out if you never played it. Shame this arcade version was never released, I really want to play it.

Pimphand Gamester You're welcome. The game was designed to run under Windows95, so it may be easier to run it under ScummVM rather than get it to run under DOS using Dosbox.

***** ScummVM is also a virtual machine, but the approach is different to applications like Dosbox. Instead of emulating a specific PC environment for the game to run off of, ScummVM replaces the game's executable files that it would normally run off of. The game's resource files would then run through ScummVM. Of course, not all games are supported; it's mainly point-n-click adventures from various developers, particularly LucasArts and Sierra. But, Virtual Stupidity is one of the games the latest version of ScummVM can run, and without having to run a virtual PC environment running Windows 98 within Windows 7 just to do it. If the aim is to just play Virtual Stupidity on a modern computer, then ScummVM may be an easier way to go about doing it. And, it's free.

I loved B&B, but this game looks terrible. Now, if Konami or Capcom made it, it would've been superb. Imagine if Capcom utilized their side scrolling formula like they did for Punisher and Final Fight....oh damn. It may have been a successful release.

for 1996 this game looks pretty damn good to me

Confederate flag at 9:48 which is rare in a video game. Really only shows up in civil war simulators and the occasional game like North & South. Can anyone think of other examples?

I'm the artist that put that there. It wasn't meant to be controversial and definitely not political (personally I'm about as anti-confederacy as it gets). I just put it there because it seemed like something you'd see in a country & western bar!

No. Atari was the publisher. It was intended as an arcade game but wasn't released, probably because it was bad and by 1996 beat-em-ups were already way out of style (and Beavis and Butthead's popularity was already waning).
