Rare footage Red Dragon Thunderzord - Ryuseioh making of

How did Toei filmed their mecha in 90s? Mostly by a props, costumes, models, miniture... and control with remote like we control an electric toy car. Now we gonna see how the Red Dragon Thunderzord (Ryuseioh) moved in the film behind the sense. Very carefully and very hard working.

The Red Dragon Zord is imho one of the best zords. It looked so cool in dragon form and it had one of the most clever transformations into humanoid form.

Wow! Great find. You don’t usually see behind the scenes stuff like this. It’s amazing just how much effort goes into these practical effects. It’s really admirable and I find it more convincing that what you typically see in movies nowadays which just use all CGI. Even in newer Sentai series that use more CGI there is still a heavy use of costumes, models, props, miniatures and makeup.

Yeah, you're right. Indeed in the past they put their very hard work on making these thing, just for footage with about less than 10 seconds lenght... these are masterpieces.

God I love the way they used to make these. There is something about classic pre-digital era tokusatsu that just hits completely different. Something about the color and the texture of the video quality, modern Super Sentai just doesn't feel the same.

Its amazing how much effort the Japanese production crew put into the Super Sentai series and then came the American Saban company to copy paste it while trying to keep costs low and even fucked their own actors for it.

Imagine if they made a toy version of the Red Dragon Thunderzord in that size. With electronic features and being to transform into it’s battle mode and the assualt team to go with it to make the Thunder Megazord. Who wouldn’t want that?

I love TV Props better than CGI this day. The first time Sentai used CGI for Mecha Combination was from Go Go V Victory Mars then became worse at Lupin Vs Pat although the series was good.

I had no idea they used radio controls! I thought it was all puppeteering by hand, like with rods and strings! Sentai mecha model work is such a mystery to me. My next question is, how do they build them? Do they mold and cast resin? Are there metal armatures?

Makes me wonder if the key monster was supposed to have a giant fight. It would make sense given he was an early monster before the other ones were found and combined if i remember correctly. Perhaps the same for the purse monster? Wouldnt be the only time Dairanger cut out a mecha fight, going off of magazine pictures I saw. But I think other magazine pictures might have just been promotional pictures.
