Definetely rare. I only remember seeing doors like that on videos of American goods lifts.

These types of elevators are pretty common here in the US, although I don’t think we use them as car transporters. The ones I’ve seen (and been on) are used to transport large loads of cargo between floors for which a regular elevator would be too small for

This is seemingly your first true american style freight with the steel mesh as the inner door, as opposed to a vertical version of a normal inner door. Many older ones you have to open the doors by hand.

Another American-styled goods lift,I remember seeing the goods lift with Peelle doors that you found a couple years earlier

also the vertical doors are also way common in the US where Im from with alot of freight elevators or goods lifts as you sometimes call them

I believe the old lift I went to in the Blackpool hotel was an Express lift Sadly though they've got rid of it ☹️

well, I suppose it's useful also for taking the bins from the basement garbage room (a large skip can be seen, presumably ready to be taken up or a spare for when the other bin is taken up)

This lift has an interesting traction motor with a very interesting 50Hz hum, which passenger lifts would have this motor like the ones at Chatham Tesco and Go Outdoors before 2011 mod, and Permanent Closure in 2020.

Interesting, there is an induction hum when the elevator was descending unless it was something with the controller. Most hydraulic elevators are silent when going down, expect for the whooshing sound as the tank is filled back up. Elevator that big likely has two pistons.

The humming is coming from the retiring cams on top of the elevator, which is what locks and unlocks the outer doors.
