Condition is everything on a coin like this. The one that brought two million is likely the best known example. And the guy willing to pay two million already has one. If another would come to market it is in likely to bring as much, especially if it is a lesser grade. So yea, Harrison is taking all the risk, with the possibility of a large payday.

I'm not sure why it's told to look for coins worth 2 million in your pocket change, Just look for cool coins worth a little more than face value, It's always nice to find one.

If some of them are in circulation you could. You most likely won't though since most of the ones that are unaccounted for are likely sitting in a garbage dump somewhere. lol

That dime being in your change is as likely as somebody accidentally handing you a one ounce gold coin instead of a quarter

how do you find a reliable appraiser? i have coins i want to get looked at but am not sure where to take them/go.

They'll pay 10k just to be able to examine it to determine it's authenticity and see if they can establish provenance. This not only benefits the coin owner, but also effects the pricing and history of the other known examples of the coin. The story and rarity of a coin is worth millions sometimes.

found a dime collection in old boxes (mercury head dimes 1916-1945.) Many barber dimes included. Also 1916/ 1926..also collections of quarters, pennies, nickels.... love to find this type of thing!

I wanna know the history behind that!! Did some heir liquidate their deceased relatives coin collection? Actually that's been known to happen. You get idiots who sell off their inheritance without understanding the value of what they have. I've seen 12 dozen rolls of silver halves rolled and brought to the bank(if youtube is to be believed) to be exchanged for the legal tender value only. Obviously some poor smucks collection.

I have found two mucery dimes in past from 1929

Some of those dimes must have been lost forever 12 yrs later during the great San Francisco earthquake of 1906

It is silly to ask why someone would buy this coin. Extremely rare and valuable coins are great investments. They increase in value whether the economy is good or bad. If you buy it for $2 million, and sell it in ten years for $4 million, you've come out ahead even after factoring in inflation and paying capital gains tax. Plus, it's just a fuckin' cool thing to have. 999,999 out of a million people dream of owning a coin like this and know that they never will.
