Amy had been singing long before she was fourteen, performing musical theatre at Sylvia Young Stage School. She also perfected her craft by listening to jazz musicians like Thelonious Monk and imitating the ad libs and riffs he played on the piano. Fourteen is the age when she started writing songs herself- learning like this cannot be rushed in any way.
