Rare 1992 Boomerang Bumpers

Before the channel it was a programming block on Cartoon Network. From old "Cattanooga Cats" recordings here's all intact bumpers I have of Boomerang from the mid 90's. - Enjoy!

I knew that Boomerang was a block first, before becoming a sister stand alone spin-off channel into its own separate network. I recall seeing on Cartoon Network in the later 90's.

Boomerang originated as a programming block on Cartoon Network that debuted on December 8, 1992, 2 months after the channel had launched. It was aimed towards the generation of baby boomers and was similar to the Vault Disney nostalgia block that would debut five years later on the Disney Channel. It originally aired for four hours every weekend, but the block's start time had changed frequently. It showed cartoons from the 50’s to the 70’s, such as Huckleberry Hound, Quick Draw McGraw, Magilla Gorilla, Top Cat, The Jetsons, Jonny Quest, Sinbad Jr. & His Magic Belt, Wacky Races, Secret Squirrel, Space Ghost, Atom Ant, Cattanooga Cats, Josie and the Pussycats, and more. Uncut, original. The Saturday block moved to Saturday afternoons, then back to the early morning, and the Sunday block moved to Sunday evenings. Eventually, Boomerang was shortened by an hour, reducing it from four hours to three each weekend. These bumpers features 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s style character art. It was on CN for 8 years (1992-2000).

These Boomerang bumpers are from 1992, but because Frank Welker is announcing here, I believe this was from a late 90s recording.

Many People thought that Boomerang launched in April Fools 2000 as a channel but it actually started as a block two months after Cartoon Network launched.

So, Frank Welker was narrating for Cartoon Network before he took over from full-time Carrot Top and Chris Phillips in 1997-1998 for the Starburst and Powerhouse eras?
