Sadly I think that James has been physically abusing Racquel. He was so nervous about her meeting with Lisa and with the physician. I think he was nervous about the truth coming out. It’s not a stretch. He calls her stupid, he says he’ll leave her if her nose gets worse, where is her family in protecting her? She obviously needs protection

I'm concerned at how James tells Raquel 😕 that her LOOKS are so important to him. He said that. When the new dr told them he'd need to take a bit of rib to fix her nose, James was freaking out that she'd have a SCAR and possibly her nose would not be PERFECT. REALLY?? So, heaven forbid she ever has a car accident or surgery that leaves her with scars, or worse, James would what? Leave her because she was not physically 'perfect' looking? That's NOT love. With life, and age, comes flaws and wrinkles, stretch marks, sometimes with pregnancy, etc. That man is looking for a trophy, NOT a woman to love and cherish, no matter how she looks. RUN, Raquel... You deserve better.

Scandoval aside, Raquel has the vibe of someone who has suffered a lot of emotional abuse and bullying, probably her whole life. Lala has bullied her for years--well the whole cast has made fun of her intelligence/lack there of---it's so demeaning to mock someone's intelligence. She clearly has self worth issues and poor boundaries. Plus, the amount of abuse she put up with by James was appalling, and very telling; it was hard to watch. I have sympathy for her in that respect. It's easy to point fingers and project whatever we think is going on with someone. I just see someone who's broken and has been for along time. Her immaturity, impulsivity , detachment, tendency to be easily lead/influenced is something I have seen in people suffering from severe emotional abuse ( think cult members)..these seem like coping mechanisms to me? She will keep making bad choices, self-sabotage until she heals her trauma and deep rooted issues. I wish her well in her healing journey.

I’m happy Lisa and Paul still kept in touch.

I’m really liking Charli this season, she’s more likable now that she’s opened up. And I’m still sick to death of Lala, She loves to portray herself as a victim, And in reality she’s the one that starts crap. Like when she had to bring up Brock and his children in front of Lisa and Everyone. She just loves to start trouble because her life is so unhappy. I can’t stand her, and anything that happens to her I would think would be karma.

As a DV counselor, with 22 yrs exp. I would be absolutely stunned if James hadn't already abused her physically. All the warning signs, her triggers, his mannerisms, verbal abuse, control, etc are there.

i think james has residual anger from before he became sober. his sobriety was a BIG arc for his storyline on the show AND in his personal life, however, I don't think he ever resolved those issues fully. of course, you can see how he speaks to raquel at times - but you can also see the genuine love and care he has for her. i'm not saying his love excuses his faults, but you can tell that it's another issue - not as if he doesn't love her; whatever is going on in himself, he lets out in negative words towards others -- classic emotional immaturity. and the thing is, IN MY OPINION, if there is an issue where james has continuously emotionally abused raquel (and there is always a possibility of physically, mentally and even spiritually) -- she's still staying with him. IM NOT VICTIM BLAMING OR SAYING THAT HER FEELINGS ARE IRRELEVANT. but if you witness and are the victim of ANY abuse, and YOU CHOOSE TO STAY - no matter the relationship(friend, family, intimate, whatever) - you are giving them the go ahead to keep doing it. every situation is different, and raquel cares about him so I know she wants him to be his best self, but if he doesn't agree to WANT to make that change for himself - take him as he is, or leave.
