Rappin' With ReefBum is a LIVE talk show with host Keith Berkelhamer and guests from the reef keeping community. In this episode I chat with Jim Graham, who is also known as Telegraham.
Jim has been a reef keeping hobbyist for about 11 years. He likes to take equipment apart to study build quality and to better understand how things function. He has operated on a number of products from GHL, Neptune and other manufacturers. The data from his tests have yielded some very unique and un-biased insights.
Jim is retired Air Force, formerly assigned to the KC-135 aerial refueller, the B-2 Stealth Bomber, and the YAL-1A Airborn Laser. Additionally, Jim appreciates kind people and is a fan of technology.

Another great Podcast. I started my tank new with Caribsea Life Rock and I had none of the issues you mention Keith. I'm almost 4 years in. Just for another view.
Now I want a shirt just so we can match names :)
You guys hit some important topics. Mr. Graham....I busted up when you said "let me put in my teeth f*****"!!!!!

I used to battle cyano. Last two tanks have been bare bottom. No cyano ever. Not sure if there is a correlation or not.
I've found that a tank can either be skewed to grow algaes or slimes. You get some nutrients too low or a trace or something the algae needs , slimes will start to take real estate
Mr. Schuhmacher is fun to listen to. Able to balance business and personal preference which is rare. Also helps one learn a different language if you watch his content enough with close caption :D Hope your day is going well. Thanks for the show.
Cyano could be from your different lights your using from those other years ago.

I don't think it is the lights. I have the same lights on the other display and there is practically no cyano in that tank. The only real difference between the two tanks/systems is the presence of that darn CaribSea Life Rock in the tank with cyano!
the cyano came in after carbon dosing right? could be from that. if you want some microbiodiversity, carbon dosing older tanks may help

In my case, no. Both instances of cyano arrived while dosing vinegar.
