Love this! When Brian plays the piano, he is soft and gentle....but when Freddie takes it over he bangs it out!!!

Did you notice that when Brian started out playing piano, he had his guitar on his lap so could transition quickly later in the song? He did so, while Freddie was striding back to the piano. Montreal 1981 is my favorite Queen performance. I love “Save Me” but my absolute favorite is “Somebody to Love” at this same concert 😍

Yes, Somebody To Love live at Montreal is a total mind blower as is White Queen live at Odeon, Hammersmith 1975. The talent of this band is incredible.

Thank you for doing this one that I love so much! I would say 90% of the Queen is better live than studio, IMO. I would suggest "Now I'm Here live at Hammersmith 1979. Again, thanks for the reactions, very much appreciated.

If you enjy Queen ballads give One Year of Love by bass player John Deacon a try. Freddie sounds incredible singing that one. It’s gorgeous too and a passion project of John and Freddie using a saxophone to give it an R&B feel. It was written by Deacon for the Highlander movie. ❤️

It's a beautiful ballad written by Brian about a friend's troubles, but he later admitted, that this friend was Freddie. You can't go wrong with the pieces of the Montreal concert.

It was always obvious (through the lyrics) that this was about Freddie, it just made so much sense about his break-up with Mary and how he felt about himself at the time, and how he hated ( himself for hurting her having actually come to terms with his sexuality, and how he felt he had wasted both their times ("I have no heart, I'm cold inside), it's beautiful how they loved each other platonically until the day he died :(

@@jo_jolambrini6775 If it was inspired about Freddie it would have been about Joe Fanelli who he left David Minns for Hed left mary 5yrs when this was recorded Ot feels a bit off of this was about Freddie a huge part of their failure was not being able to be open about their relationship Im annoyed they didnt show that in the film they made it seem Freddie was just ashamed of being gay

98.7% of all Queen is better live than studio version. It’s the energy they put into the song. Who Wants to Live Forever, live in Budapest will give you cold chills.

Only i miss! Is brian wrote the song, played high skills piano with his guitar on his neck! And switched right to the slow sining guitat solo! And you talk just about freddie! (Btw best rock singer ever!) But queen was a Band with 4 genius songwriters and musicians!

“He’s on point, you can’t hear the music from behind…” - Do you mean backing tracks, like the vast majority of so-called “live” concerts use now ? Queen didn’t use those - what you hear is *actually live*, and if you watch the same song from several different concerts, it’s a unique performance each time. The only exception to this is when “Bohemian Rhapsody” is played live (not as part of a medley) - they use the recorded “operatic section” as all 4 guys briefly leave the stage (to change shirts or whole outfits) since those heavily-layered harmonies simply can’t be replicated live, so use that opportunity to freshen up a bit 😊- then they burst back onstage to ROCK OUT 🎸 Other than that, Queen concerts are fully live and very real, both vocally and instrumentally - there weren’t even ear pieces, just staying in sync by using eye-contact, subtle signals, and the floor monitors. They really were just THAT good.

Another great Queen song, this one written by Brian May. Brian starts out on the piano then go on for the guitar part and Freddie takes over on the piano. This band is so versatile, everyone plays multiple instruments. This is such a beautiful song, and I love it live. Excellent breakdown and reaction, thank you.

I've seen you've done some good diving into Queen. 👏🏼 You don't need to pause Queen songs especially if you use them from their channel. Suggestions that I don't think youve done yet would be: *White Queen* live at the Odeon Hammersmith 1975 *Who Wants to Live Forever* live from Wembley FRIDAY night July 11, 1986 which I think is more passionate and powerful of the song. they did back to back dates there on their final tour. *Don't Stop Me Now* official video (top notch) my favorite video is next. Its more about the lyrics and visuals than the music specifically. it showcases Freddie's lower register and it's cathartic considering the situation. *I'm Going Slightly Mad*

Thanks, guy! this is one of my favorite live performances (especially love Brian starting on the piano, with his guitar in his LAP, and also singing.. then the transition, where he comes out on the guitar solo, and Freddie steps up on keys... written by Brian...) This whole group were amazing... appreciate your reaction... (p.s. Queen was almost always equally as good LIVE as in studio.. although there are differences)

I grew up when Queen was in the charts, but didn't listen to rock much, so I mostly heard just the studio recordings from the 1980's official MTV videos. During the pandemic in 2020 I started watching KZread a lot and discovered live Queen videos. The energy from those helped get me through the worst of the isolation, and I have since worked my way through most of Queen's albums and Freddie's solo stuff. Freddie puts out more energy in a 50-year-old video than most artists do these days performing live. Suggestions -- early Queen: "White Queen" (live at the Rainbow 1974); late Queen: "I Want it All" (official video)

Brian wrote this one. Has anyone mentioned his guitar? He and his father built it when he was a teen because he couldn’t afford a proper guitar. It has its own Wikipedia page, “The Red Special”. I wouldn’t say studio vs. live that one is better, just different but perfectly executed either way. Queen studio recordings contain carefully crafted harmonies and instrumentation that aren’t easily duplicated live. Listen to studio version of Somebody to Love and compare to your reaction of it live and I think you’ll agree. I’m sure you’ve been asked to react to their full set at Live Aid 1985, go for it!

You may have noticed you are getting a lot of suggestions for this Montreal concert. The band was on fire that night, but also, you may have noticed the sound and video quality are really good for 1981. The concert was recorded on film because they were planning to release a live concert film to movie theaters. Evidently the film crew really irritated Freddie by trying to get the audience to stay quiet and in their seats, which may be the reason for the heightened performance. And Freddie starts off fully clothed and ends up barefoot with nothing on but shorts and a cap.

Alright just found your channel because of your Tech N9ne reaction. I’m going to subscribe and see where this goes. Would you mind checking out Saul Williams track “Black History Month” or “Scared Money” from his 2007 album ‘The Inevitable Rise And Librarian Of NiggyTardust!’. The Album is produced by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails and mixes William’s poetry and rap with Reznor’s industrial beats. It was well received by rock critics and more poorly received by hip hop. But it’s a really great example of unexpectedly obvious combinations, peanut butter and chocolate.
