The world of Gorillaz is definitely fascinating. They may be digital, but their world is ever evolving, like when Murdoc spent some time in prison and the band replaced him with Ace from the Powerpuff Girls' Gangrene Gang. The art style you mentioned of the band was created by the creator of the comic Tankgirl and the “band” is basically the lead singer of the band Blur and a revolving cast of guests from musicians to rappers.

This was the first single that Gorillaz put out, which is insane to think about how long ago this was. Jesus. But there's such an incredible depth to the Gorillaz discography. Truly icons for how they have been able to do something unlike any other artist in music both visually and stylistically. For review recommendations, their well know songs Feel Good Inc, Stylo, or Dare. Lesser known songs: 19-2000, Plastic Beach, and Don't Get Lost in Heaven + Demon Days are all great songs in their own right.

I just happened to stumble onto your channel because of your reactions to Bo Burnham and I'm so happy I did. Your music isn't what I would consider my usual genre, I'm mostly a prog rock kinda person (my favorite bands are Rush, SOAD, and Twenty One Pilots) but I'm willing to give anything a chance and you are so talented. I also love how thoughtful your lyrics are and how passionate you are about creating great art. Love you man

2:11 it’s not “I’m happy” it’s “I ain’t happy” & “I’m useless” which would explain the delivery. I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad I got sunshine in a bag I'm useless but not for long The future is coming on

Being completely honest with you: Back in the days I was vibing to this tune, just because I thought it sounded cool and never thought too much about a deeper meaning. Now 20 years later, after you broke it down for me, I noticed: I AM AN IDIOT! Thank you, dear Sir! Now I see things clearer... To my defense, I am not a natural speaker. Maybe that's part of why I didn't catch everything...

My first ever concert I went to was Blur in 1996. That same weekend I got my first tattoo. Blur was my absolutely most favorite band and I still have all of their CD's. Also theirs was the first band shirt I ever bought, at the concert. It was waaayyyy too big for me so I just slept in it 😂😂😂 Then the lead singer, Damon Albarn, bought a house in Iceland and every teen girl (and some boys) would dream about Albarn (rumors say some were lucky, I'm not one of them though 😂). Later Albarn created this band, Gorillaz, and of course I love everything they do ❤

What an awesome breakdown of the song. Your detailed descriptions of the psychological interactions with substances and a normal human brain are interesting to hear. I've always considered this being a "substance" related song, but I keep thinking there could be other references to mental stability as well. Good detail of my perception of the lyrics.

Damon named it 'Clint Eastwood' due to the harmonica sound you hear throughout the song and is extensively present in the full version. For a while I believed the lyrics were 'I'm happy I've got sunshine. In a bag, I'm useless.' And yes, Del's verses still blow me away. That man is gifted.

I've been listening to this song since I was 12 years old and still there were a couple lines you caught that have been mishearing so they've been flying right past me all these years. Thats the beauty of a song like this. It's just a vibe. There's a deeper message if you're listening but it lulls you into a comfortable groove you feel like you don't need to find the messages in. ....But they're there. For the record if anyone ever asks me what my favorite song of all time is this is usually my answer. I have been listening to it since I had to burn it onto a CD at my cousins house and still to this day when it pops up on my shuffle I let it play. GOAT classic right here
