Tommy and Gina, a fictional Italo-american young couple from New Jersey. Tommy used to work at the docks but the union is on strike... Gina works in a diner and does a lot of extra hours still isn't enough to make ends meet... "Living on a prayer", one of Bon Jovi greatest hits. Now it's a mandatory reaction! :)

That 84 album is one of the best ever. I think there were 5 singles off it. Which is crazy for an album. But it was that good. Big songs off that one. It lifted him quick to stardom. I believe on some lists, that album was voted best of the year. I was born in 80. But I remember at 10 years old knowing Bon Jovi and listening to those songs like they were knew. I think at 10 is where I became very musically and culturally aware. That’s when the growing up starts.

Yes… he did refer to Frank Sinatra song. Tommy and Gina were the couple in their early mega hit, Livin On a Prayer. Jon Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen are my homies. I grew up listening to them, seeing them live. I literally lived in between the two towns they lived in, in NJ. Jon did have his vocal cords operated on in the last year. He still has not performed live as he is taking the it slow with recovery. But just before surgery, he really struggled in live performances. Jon and Bruce are good guys, not caught up in the pitfalls of the industry but massively close to their wives and children, both incredibly committed to philanthropic work. They remain successful for decades. Jersey strong!

Jon fought to have that line in this song, he and lead guitar Richie wrote so many of they’re hits together and that line Richie didn’t think it would work and thought that line wouldn’t matter but Jon put it in there and said it mattered to him and Richie said ok but you are the one that has to sing it every night and the rest is history. Tommy and Gina are mentioned in several of their songs over the years, so Bon Jovi fans know who they’re talking about! More Bon Jovi please! Lots of hits in the comments to choose from!🤟🔥💯

So Sinatra was born in Hoboken, NJ and Jon Bon Jovi is from Perth Amboy, NJ. JBJ has been quoted as saying how much he admired FS but never met him. When he first started there was a rumor that FS was JBJ's Great Uncle - not true. However, the line is a nod to FS. His birth name is John Bongiovi. He switched it to Bon Jovi. I always thought that was funny.

I saw them in the 90s. And we were lucky enough that they decided to make one of their videos at our show. It’s the video for In These Arms, another great song. They played it 2 or 3 times in the actual show to get a bunch of shots. And they invited as many people as wanted to to stay after the show to be part of the crowd for more filming. I’m really surprised that not a huge number stayed. We got to get right up to the stage, and while we were waiting for them to reset cameras and lights, Jon came out and serenaded an acoustic version of Living on a Prayer. I will never forget that moment. He’s such a nice guy. Being in the video was pretty great too, but it’s grainy and dark in those scenes, so you can’t pick us out. My brother did put a random girl up on his shoulders so she could be seen lol After she didn’t give him her phone number… oh well… in the moment I guess. At least I can say I was in a Bon Jovi video!

Not to mention a whole group of younger Gen X coming out of collage with fresh degrees and no job to be had because so many wouldn't hire without work experience.. Ity was a pretty messed up few years we all just swept under the rug saying "OK, moving on"

Used to listen to Bon Jovi a lot growing up😁 But now you definitely need to check out the jamm session with Ren singing Sinatra's Fly me to the Moon! I don't think it's on his channel though, maybe on twitch. But you can find it on other yt channels under 'Ren karaoke rendition, Fly Me To the Moon' Sooooo much fun watching Ren being a goof😂

Fantastic reaction as usual. Frank Sinatra was Jon Bon Jovi's great uncle which made this all the more special. Please react to the video of livin on a prayer. You'll find out who Tommy and Gina are. The song is fun and the band really has a good time performing it! Lots of energy.

Bon Jovi shows are fire. I once went to the Stone Pony (IYKYK) to hear Southside Johnny and Bon Jovi rolled in around midnight. And yes, Roger Troutmann from Zapp used that.

Love Bon Jovi !!!💕 Jon Bon Jovi is an incredible guy! As a rockstar, the traveling, the groupies, all the temptations etc….. he’s managed to stay married to his wife Dorothea for 35 years. In addition to this he’s extremely giving to his community, he has a Soul Food kitchen/restaurant where people pay what they can. He’s been a volunteer for habitat for humanity, many fundraisers for underprivileged communities. He’s even recorded a song with country artist Jennifer Nettles from Sugarland “Who Says You Can’t Go Home” and proceeds went to habitat. I really respect this guy!!!

I loved loved Bon Jovi from high school. I wasn't allowed to go to rock concerts in high school....graduated in 1991. Finally got to see them 2 years ago. I was so disappointed they literally only played maybe 6 songs of their most popular songs. Played all mainly new stuff I had not heard yet.....not what I went for...still love them just not what I paid to experience....

John Francis Bongiovi Jr. known professionally as Jon Bon Jovi. He just did a documentary on his and bands life Hulu, “Thank you, Goodnight.” Had surgery on his throat, didn’t know if he could sing again and just dropped a new son after 10 months of throat therapy, “Legendary”. As for it’s my Life, it came out May 8, 2000, from the “Crush Album”. It’s my life, his slower version from Unplugged is my favorite version of Its My Life. “Tommy and Gina and Frankie said I did it my way”, is from the song “Living on a Prayer”. So beautiful you have your homework lol, Thank you, Goodbye, Living on a Prayer, Bonjovi unplugged or just It’s my life unplugged. You won’t be disappointed at all. Enjoy your new baby. This is off their CRUSH album that was released in 2000. The internet was still sort of getting its legs under itself before social media blew up big and the ability to Facetime etc was remotely a thing. We used web cams that sucked. Cell phones at the time did not have the ability to do what they do now. iPhone wasn't released until 2007. Tommy & Gina was a reference to couple in the song "Living on a Prayer" - Song went "Tommy used to work on the docks Unions been on strike He's down on his luck... it's tough, so tough Gina works the diner all day Working for her man, she brings home her pay For love - for love"

Band is Bon Jovi and lead singer is John Bon Jovi. Think it dropped in 2000. Was first written back in 1965 in New York and recorded the same year by The Animals a English band and has been covered by several other artists since then.

I remember watching this music video on MTV in 2000 when it came out, to date myself a little lol. I believe you are correct, that is a talk box. John Bon Jovi is the lead singer's name, the band is just Bon Jovi. I love this song, and your reaction to it was very fun to watch! Funny story, I met John Bon Jovi with my mother at a gas station completely by accident. He was towing a Classic Ford he'd just had restored back home and I am such a car nut that I talked to him about the car and the restoration for about 15 minutes, all the while I'm thinking "This guy looks super familiar". The whole time he was grinning like a fool and I thought he was just enjoying talking about the car. It wasn't until about a minute after I went inside the convenience store that it clicked WHY I thought he was familiar. My mom and I had a laughing fit right there in the store over it since we are both huge Bon Jovi fans and we were just dazzled by the car and his smile, the rest went over our heads completely until they were pulling away. I'm sure he and the people with him had a good laugh at our expense, but it has been a pretty fun story nonetheless. Anyway, Thanks for the fun content as always!

It's hard to believe you frequently listen to Living on a prayer and don't know who Tommy and Gina are, but here are the lyrics: Once upon a time, not so long ago... Tommy used to work on the docks, Union's been on strike, he's down on his luck, it's tough. Gina works at the dinner all day, She brings home her man her pay for love, for love. ... Then they're mentioned again around in the middle of the song when gina cries and tommy whispers but I can't quote that part, don't remember it exactly.
