Hi! We're back with one of my personal favorites - Ddaeng! And we're doing it all: lyric video, explanation video, and two performance videos. Oh it's a good one. Quick disclaimer: in the video Elaine calls the Rapline's wardrobe "kimonos" and I was unsure at the time so I didn't correct her in video. But after talking to two of my Korean friends, we now know that they are wearing modernized Hanboks. My friend's response: "You are correct, kimonos are Japanese. These are hanbok’s. For men, hanboks usually consist of the baji (pants), jeogori (top), baeja (vest) and a durumagi (long coat). The ones they are wearing are obviously a way more modern take on the traditional hanbok." Thank you for your patience as we learn more about different cultures and countries! Each country is different and so it's a work in progress! - Editing Jo

There’s an amazing behind the scenes of the production of DDAENG and their rehearsals for their first performance of it at the BTS Prom Party. You guys should definitely watch it in your free time (watch the bangtan subs ver).

Guys, ever considered also varying the thumbnail? I love your content and you spend so much time creating it, but I have a feeling that fewer people would just scroll past it if the thumbnail was more descriptive of the content.

It’s actually on my to-do list!! I’ve been meaning to create custom thumbnails for each vid but I’ve been swamped with editing. But hopefully soon! So definitely yes. You suggesting it actually makes me want to get it done faster. Thanks!

No concert vlog? Also, how do you get the bread to not flatten out?

I have clips of us at the LA show but the other two friends that went with us don’t want to be in any videos. But they’re in everything that I have. So I can do a super cut of moments of us at the concert but it’s barely anything. We are planning on going to the Vegas show and Allison is coming too. So we’re going to vlog that whole trip for sure. Can’t wait to share with everyone the experience!!

As for bread - I’m not sure exactly. I think it’s a combo of timing out the starter well, doing slap-and-folds for seven minutes straight, folding the dough intermittently for two hours, and then really shaping it into a ball before storing it in the fridge overnight. It’s a very timely process and I’ve tried cutting corners or being lazy with it and the dough can either turn out flat or dense if I do it wrong. But if you stick to the plan, it’ll be great! I’ll grab the link to the recipe I follow and paste it below.

Here’s the recipe I use: basicswithbabish.co/basicsepisodes/sourdough-bread And here they are making the bread in a video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/lIeNxqN7orPYpLA.html I usually half the recipe to yield one loaf. If you end up making some bread, lmk how it goes!!

Wow. As a Korean, hearing Elaine keeps callinging Hanbok as a kimono is really alarming. Like, I guess we as a nation did not do a very good job of promoting hanbok that someone who is as interested in culture and culture appopriation as her thinks that Korean people would wear Japanese clothes as traditional attire, huh. (I'm being half sarcastic and half serious) Guess we should do a better job of keeping and promoting hanbok.

Aside from that, I loved your reaction! I really liked how you included explanation And the festa stage of the rapline. DDAENG is THAT SONG that deserves a full-course appreciation. Loved that for DDAENG.

Thanks for understanding … it was hard sitting there and hearing her call it a kimono but also be unsure if “hanbok” was the correct term or not. The only reason I’m vaguely familiar with it is because of the k-dramas that I watch. But still I wanted to be sure. That’s why I asked my friends about it. I think we’re all just learning things as we go. Every culture is different, even with my background (I’m filipino but my stepfather is Chinese/Korean) - I want to celebrate what makes each of these unique. Please forgive us when we make mistakes or mix things up! Being half sarcastic and half serious, we get it. And I think that’s why we have to leave space for correction and keep an open mind. Thanks for watching!! - Editing Jo
