What an amazing design no obvious points of failure.😍

Thank you! yes it is very reliable.
Hola, que precio tiene el kit de cambio rapido de herramientas? O donde puedo informarme?.un saludo
I started a similar project years back. But I did never complete it 😅 my vfd broke down at the time I was about to make some test. can I use my own tool magazine in your mach3 screenset? Great work guys! We need more of you.!

Why not? I would be interested in how it goes!
I like your gantry mill design. Did you make it out of wood?

Thanks for the comment and question! It is made from natural paper phenolic resin sheets it is very rigid and heavy. It has a wood grain laminate. I ended up with a lot of it after a commercial remodel job I had done and found it was a great material for building this machine.
Is this relying on the torque of the spindle to open and close the nut? This might be a little bit under the recommended values for an ER collet.

When analyzing the physics, the actual torque of the spindle its self plays only a small role. it is the inertia of the spindle that delivers the clamping force. 800w spindles need to spin a bit faster at engagement than a 2.2 KW. I get asked about torque all the time, and for good reason. I assumed it would not be sufficient. So when it proved to deliver enough torque, I began the quest to make it reliable and repeatable because at first it was not. I took me 7 months to get the inner workings right. Test magazine stat going out this week and soon we'll have feedback!

@@RapidChangeATC ok, I now see it when playing back the video slower. This way you get of course a lot more torque. Interesting ATC, keep us updated on how it performs over time.

One other thing to consider is that the published torque values are only given for the MAXIMUM torque values. I once tightened a collet nut holding the spindle with a wrench and applying torque by hand to the nut and made some rather deep cuts in Cherry with no slipping. but the RapidChange magazine delivers much more torque than that.

I wanna try this 😊
When do you expect to offer this commercially?

We plan to launch July 4th.
Do you think that this system can work with the KRESS Spindle FM-1050 and the Planet CNC board? If you think it will, I will be happy to pay the fee and participate in the field testing with my custom-made router. No problem for me to spend some time testing the macro for the ATC. If not, I was considering upgrading to a VFD...

So I took a quick look at the FM-1050 and in theory it seems it would work, if your able to control speed and direction of the spindle with Gcode. We should have a conversation about it. It would be easy for you to test it out on your machine and you would know before hand.

@@RapidChangeATC Unfortunately I can't control speed and direction trough gcode on the kress fm1050. There are newer version that can, but upgrading to a vfd generic chinese spindle make more sense money wise.

@@GiovanniEsposito5 That is unfortunate. But yes the generic VFDs are much less expensive and work well. If you do switch over I would recommend a Huanyang VFD regardless of the spindle make and model as they are the best documented. I have five and I have never had a problem with them.
