The rapid sand filter group includes pressure filter and rapid sand gravity filter, here we are discussing the latter part. This video lecture is a powerpoint presentation on rapid sand gravity filter. This video describes the rapid sand filter working process in form of animation. The video also encompasses the design steps for rapid sand filter. Along with this we have covered the backwashing of rapid sand filter in form of animation. The diagram and construction of rapid sand filter is discussed along with the coefficient of uniformity and coefficient of curvature of various materials. The design considerations of under drainage system and design of water troughs is also discussed. Under drainage consists of laterals and central manifold.

It is resolved by high jet of air loosening the sand particles.
It is very clear and informative video, Thank you for sharing. Couple of queries #1. Can I use this for filtering Rain harvested water. #2. I plan to put to use Plastic barrels (200lits X3), so can you help me understand the rate of water filtered (@ cross section area of a 0.267metSq. In nutshell it is fast enough to handle rainwaters (Monsoon rains like in India). Will appreciate response. Thank you once again.. Ciao
8:10 are those 2 pictures refers to the same tank but in different side of view? so the picture in the right is the tank if seen from the front?
