Rapid Fire: Is Notre Dame Desperate, Mike Denbrock's Elite Salary, Notre Dame - Stanford Future

Rapid Fire topics include:
* ESPN’s Greg McElroy says Notre Dame is more desperate than Texas A&M to win their week one matchup. “I don’t think it’s even close. I think by a mile it’s Notre Dame. I think you look at Notre Dame this year, this is the year that Marcus Freeman has circled.” Do you Buy or Sell that from McElroy?
* Fill-in the blank...It’s BLANK that according to Pro Football Focus, Notre Dame’s Mike Denbrock is the highest paid offensive coordinator in the country at $2.1 million dollars a year.
* Fill-in the blank...We got the news last week that Notre Dame has added Boise State to its home schedule next year. One opponent that’s still up in the air for next year is Stanford, because the contract with the Cardinal expires after this season and Stanford is now part of the ACC. It will be BLANK if the Irish don’t play Stanford next year.
* What should the Irish do with their schedule if Stanford is not going to be on it every year?
* Thoughts on reports that former Notre Dame and LSU baseball coach Paul Mainieri will be hired as South Carolina's head coach.
* Caitlin Clark was left off the US women’s Olympic basketball team. Which do you have a bigger issue with: Clark’s snub or the avalanche of takes that came after it this weekend?
* Game two of the NBA Finals included 600 lobsters in the media dinner at Boston’s TD Garden Arena. What’s the best media meal we've ever had?

On the Caitlin Clark not on the Olympics talk......The main reason she didn't make the team was that she wasn't able to attend the Team USA tryouts when they were held because she was still playing with Iowa getting ready for the Final Four.....If you aren't able to tryout, then you are basically leaving yourself off the team.....I completely understand the reason why, but that's the main reason....she wasn't able to attend tryouts.

Thanks for the information/analysis/opinion concerning Stanford as I have been wondering whether Notre Dame would be continuing with this series for some time. I tend to think that it would be best for both schools for Stanford to just go into the ACC rotation.

The last thing we need is 12 powerhouses on our schedule. Keep Stanford.

I don’t agree with Vince often but he’s spot on about TaM vs ND needing to win. Spot on Vince!!!!

Get rid of Stanford. Replace with Vanderbilt and Tulane. Great destinations when we play at their place.

You keep saying the rest of the schedule is soft but ND has shown that anyone can be them at any time

As long as they don't come out like they did at Clemson or Louisville for the TaM game. It'll be a great game!

USC is going to be good in a couple years. They're outbidding the southern teams for the big boys from Georgia.

“No one outside TX expects A&M to win”. Hmmmm? Vegas has Aggies favored. Also, ND is better top to bottom? Do some research sir.
