    It is a "rapid floor" in the sence that the floor can be loaded without the need for 3 courses of cured blockwork above the hangers. This is due to the design of the RBJH joist hanger.

    If the joists sat on a foundation ledge and the brackets were there to tie to the outer edges, maybe but those brackets could never support the weight of the floor by themselves. Now, if this was a fancy deck, yes

  • @zozoart

    How do you figure those hangers could not support the weight of the floor?

  • @DevilTravels

    @DevilTravels

    Жыл бұрын

    @@zozoart granted, for short run floor joists, they could handle a light load, but it's always best if a floor joist is set on top of a more substance surface to carry the weight. And then there's the long term effects, since metal that thing can rust or oxidize over time and lose strength. Actually, these hangers might work really well for a tiny house build.

    Los elementos metalicos que soportan las vigas, estan fijados a bloques de concreto, los cuales no estan diseñados para resistir la carga del piso, por lo cual es irreal el diseño. Si tuviera una viga corrida en las paredes, entonces si sería correcto el anclaje de las vigas que soportaran el piso....por favor corrijan ese horror (error) de diseño. Gracias.

    @grumpy old fart - OSB has a structure of Short Grain, Random Orientation, Wood, whereas Plywoods are Long Grain Veniers, of about similar thickness. I would select Plywood, of at least 5 Ply, if not 7 ply, for replacement of the OSB I-Beam Riser. Plywood could be even stronger, by adding 2 Cores at the 45° x 45° Orientation, in the Center, followed by the 0° & 90° Orientation, of typical Plywood!
