    Okay, so fun fact: The male singer is none other than the voice actor of Raphael(an in game devil), Andrew Wincott, and this was his first project like this. Just to set the scene of the character, he is a devil, who's very much into theatrics, is constantly quoting in universe poetry, and even writes his Devilish Pacts in rhymes! He is one charmingly terrible, or terribly charming part of the game, I cannot recommend it enough(it even features an "explorer" difficulty where you can just breeze through the game, soaking in the story of it)

    I love Raphaels Final Act because the voice actor of Raphael is singing himself and its epic but what I love the most about it, is that the music here is diegetic. Most of the music in games, movies etc. is non diegetic meaning it plays for the audience but not for the people in the story (non diegetic scores vs diegetic music during dance scenes that is actually heard by the people on screen for example). So when suddenly Raphael starts singing, you realise this is not a scene where only the player hears epic music but everyone does. Like Raphael is so in control of this place that he even controls the freaking background music. I think that makes him so much more intimidating to the player. When even the music listens to his command, what doesn't? That's what I love about this the most.

    'Devil himself' is putting it a bit much, since devil is a race in D&D. Asmodeus is the most powerful devil. Geebz.. I want nothing more than to watch you play through this game. As someone who played through it thoroughly and did everything I came across and found. It took me 120 hours for my first playthrough. And the crazy thing is, I’ve found entire questlines, areas, npcs, and legendary items and even a whole new companion that I never found before over the course of 2 more playthroughs. It’s so massive that every single time you playthrough it again you’re going to have a different experience, you’ll find countless cutscenes and dialogue you previously never knew existed. This game is truly one of a kind and once in a world experience. This game will be talked about for the next 20 years and following. It is monumental. It would take some learning but not a crazy amount. It’s a game you can genuinely sit back, take as much time as you need and soak everything in. There’s so much stuff and amazing detail in every inch of the game. You can spend 20+ hours in the first zone alone. By all means do what you want to do or play it offline if you want to. But damn I’d watch all of it.

    One of the funniest things about this is the whole debate over what the last line is. I've always heard "your tomb", but many, many native English-speakers hear "consumes" or "consumed", and I've seen "comes true" and "is you" suggested as well. Someone finally decided to just ask the composer on Twitter, and he confirmed that it is indeed "your tomb". Not that that has settled anything. Posting links gets comments deleted, so it's hard to provide evidence.

  • @Martha-Novalin-

    @Martha-Novalin-

    I think I first understood your doom, but the first time I read the lyrics it did say "tomb" which makes sense. (Also that would've made it repeatative). But in all the covers I saw "consumes/consumed". But this just feels and sounds wrong. We could also ask Andrew if he remembers what he sang.

  • @mulrich

    @mulrich

    5 ай бұрын

    @@Martha-Novalin- I know you agree with me, but bear with me for the sake of others: Andrew would have no reason to change the lyrics. It's also very clearly "your tomb". There's no hard C sound. It seems like the vast majority of the people who hear "consumes" or something other than "your tomb" are native English-speakers, and I have no logical explanation for that. I even asked a few people I know who have English as their first language, and not one of them heard the same thing, all suggesting other things than the actual lyrics. One thing the people I asked has in common: they were all either American or Canadian. I haven't had the chance to ask someone British. Since Andrew is English, maybe that's somehow muddling things. Your hearing "your doom" for a second time actually brings me to another point. The lyrics for the final verse are: No more deals; it's over! The final act: your doom. No more grace; it's over! This House of Hope: YOUR TOMB! "Consumed", "consumes", "is you", "comes true". None of these is anywhere near as good a rhyme for "doom" as "tomb". Lyrically, it doesn't make much sense either. Raphael isn't going to consume you. He's going to kill the player right then and there. His home will be - you guessed it - your tomb.

  • @jehard2

    @jehard2

    5 ай бұрын

    @@mulrich To me it's a very clear "...un...soom" sound at 2:55 in this video. There is no hard "T" sound for "Tomb" at all, and a VERY clear "S" sound. "Your Doom" might make sense lyrically, but it's not what's being sung there.

  • @mulrich

    @mulrich

    5 ай бұрын

    @@jehard2 see, this is why the "debate" is still ongoing when it shouldn't be: even in the face of irrefutable hard evidence provided by the people who made it, we have those who are determined to hear what they want to hear, so they reject the evidence and keep arguing. Arguing with that kind of person is absolutely pointless, so I'm not going to. Good day to you.

    So for some context this song is played during a fight with Raphael and it's literally him singing it at you as he fights you. Some character classes have a spell called Silence that puts a big bubble where sound can't be generated, it's mainly used to stop spellcasters from casting a good chunk of their spells. If Raphael is in a Silence bubble his lines of the song won't play.
