You have good ears. That's because this is more akin to New Wave then just any form of pop, pop rock, or j pop. The entire 80s and into the 90s was filled with this brilliantly unique subgenre of rock. Filled with synthesizers and harmonizied singing which gave it a kind of melodic sound. English examples include Duran Duran, Tears For Fear and Depeche Mode. It's a unique sound that isn't really around anymore except for the surviving bands from back then. Newest you'll find is the likes of Daft Punk but they're more full on techno then the synthesized pop rock goodness in the 80s that was New Wave. It's a fun music genre to get behind.

Female Ranma's VA has done a great variety of voices/roles and I was surprised by many of them. For example, Rei Ayanami from Evangelion. She's the complete opposite of Ranma. So that was curious. Get in the robot Ranma!

Unfortunately by this point in the anime most of the stand-alone episodes had to do with Happosai doing something weird or perverted. I loved that first season and a half the best.
